The American Society of Nephrology (ASN) supports more than 21,000 professionals focused on treating people with kidney diseases. The Excellence in Patient Care (EPC) Associate provides project support, administrative support, and research support for the EPC team within ASN. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining the infrastructure necessary to ensure the successful completion of deliverables in contracts and agreements with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other government and organizational partners. The successful candidate will have experience in organizational management and be focused on EPC’s mission “committed to ensuring, championing, and advancing excellence in patient care for all people with kidney diseases”.
The EPC Associate works in a team environment with the Vice President for Excellence in Patient Care (VP EPC), the EPC staff, and physician (and other clinical) volunteers to improve professionals’ ability to advance care for hundreds of thousands of people with kidney diseases.
Key Responsibilities
Provides project support including:
Scheduling all Steering Committee meetings and drafting minutes.
Preparing PowerPoint slides and gathering reference materials for EPC leadership meetings.
Developing, implementing, and maintaining the Smartsheet project management tool.
Tracking general progress of all EPC initiatives and working with the team to address any areas of concern.
Creating reporting tools for staff and Project Committee members to help EPC advance specific goals and agendas and inform key audiences.
Developing resource material using the latest technology (video editing, AI, media development software etc.) to support project goals.
Working in partnership with EPC team members and professional committee members to create training and education opportunities for kidney disease professionals and people with kidney diseases.
Utilizing best demonstrated practices to inform project development and affect outcomes.
Establishing and updating standard operating procedures for EPC administration and integrating those efforts with ASN departments as needed.
Works collaboratively with ASN staff to further the mission.
Performs literature reviews; synthesizes summaries and recommendations.
Contributes to and supports strategic planning.
Participates in the support of meetings, including those held during Kidney Week, as assigned.
Builds strong and lasting relationships with kidney professionals, community partners, and key ASN staff.
Assumes other duties and responsibilities that are appropriate to the position and the area.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree is required.
Knowledge of medical terminology and nephrology is preferred.
Proven operational management skills, including ability to manage multiple deadlines and accommodate shifting priorities.
Strong verbal communication skills and demonstrated ability to write clearly and effectively.
High energy, positive attitude, ability to work collaboratively, and manage work independently.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office required, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat.
Preference for experience with media development software such as Canva, Articulate, Camtasia.
Experience with project management tools such as Smartsheet.
Ability to research and synthesize findings.
Ability to travel domestically approximately 3 - 4 times per year.
Experience with marketing and social media preferred.
Familiarity with quality improvement processes and terminology.
Experience with the development of traditional and online learning resources.
This position is based in Washington, DC, where the society employs a hybrid work environment (80 days per year in the office required).
