The CME Accreditation Coordinator is responsible for coordinating educational activities that meet the needs of physicians and/or maintaining a recognized system of accreditation for intrastate organizations in keeping with the requirements of the ACCME, AMA and MedChi, The Maryland State Medical Society. The roles and responsibilities include the following:
EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMING:
Act as liaison with Joint Provider representatives to coordinate the overall process for Joint Providerships, including the planning process for educational activities by gathering, analyzing, and interpreting information to identify learner needs and gaps which are essential in the justification of the development of CME, and ensure the joint provider submits documentation for all aspects of the activity,
Assist with the development of Direct Providerships to meet the needs of MedChi members and physicians in Maryland,
Assist in providing program improvement recommendations to the CME Committee,
Enter MedChi CME activity data into the ACCME’s Provider Data Reporting System (PARS), and
Ensure quality control of required documentation and correspondence for educational activities that meet the ACCME Accreditation Criteria and Standards and other compliance requirements for each activity.
RECOGNITION SYSTEM:
Support Accredited Providers that carry out CME activities for their organization under the recognition system,
Assist in providing program improvement recommendations to the Continuing Medical Education Review Committee (CMERC),
Coordinate the reaccreditation of the Accredited Providers periodically (average every four years), and
Ensure compliance with ACCME reaccreditation and maintenance of recognition.
ADMINISTRATIVE:
Administrative work to include processing payments, creating invoices, maintaining database, filing, prepare committee minutes and all other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS, QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS PREFERRED:
A college degree or equivalent with 2 years of relevant experience.
Knowledge and familiarity with the accreditation criteria, standards and policies for continuing medical education, including the ACCME and AMA requirements.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Ability to coordinate multiple activities at the same time.
Ability to work independently.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe and familiarity with association management systems.
Ability to work nights and weekends several times a year.
