Position Overview
The Director, Professional Education and Research is a key staff position that creates and manages the core professional development offerings for IAMC members across multi-day conferences, ½-day lunch & learn-style events, and webinar sessions throughout the year.
Supported by a member-based committee of industry subject matter experts, the Director, Professional Education and Research is charged with identifying current and upcoming trends, best practices and topics of interest – specifically addressing core-components of corporate real estate with an industrial focus – to inform an annual programming plan.
The Director, Professional Education and Research will become an expert on the needs of the corporate real estate executive and work to serve their needs and interests with the objective of engagement and enrichment.
Secondary functions include managing association committees, developing research reports and white papers, managing the IAMC Insider section of Site Selection Magazine and other association management duties as assigned by the President & CEO.
Reports to the IAMC President & CEO.
Key Responsibilities
Program/Content Development (90 percent of time)
As staff liaison for the Professional Education Committee, serves as a committee leader offering insights and guidance. Coordinates and leads the efforts of this volunteer member advisory group tasked with identifying current and upcoming trends, best practices and topics of interest – specifically addressing core-components of corporate real estate with an industrial focus – to develop long term educational program that serves the career needs of IAMC’s members.
Creates an overarching annual package of programming addressing the 11 identified core corporate real estate topic areas – ensuring that each topic area is presented across multiple channels throughout the year – through advance planning and in accordance with the Professional Education Committee
Focusing on the professional development needs of the corporate real estate executive, provides direction on the development of approximately 50 (40-55 minute) volunteer speaker-led programs annually
Spring Professional Forum – 15-18 programs across 3 days
Fall Professional Forum – 15-18 programs across 3 days
Webinars – 6-15 programs throughout the year
IAMC Local events - ~7 events, 2-3 programs per event – throughout the year
Assists the Project Manager, Professional Development in identifying subject matter experts – both within IAMC’s membership and within the industry at large
Manages each program to ensure it complies with the subject matter laid out by the Professional Education Committee presentation
IAMC Badges Certificate Program: supports the President & CEO and Professional Education Committee as IAMC researches, incept and implements its first badging program
Research (10 percent of time)
Survey Research
Manages the writing, distribution and analysis of IAMC member surveys including: post-event satisfaction surveys for every domestic U.S. IAMC event; annual member survey; other surveys as identified by the President & CEO.
IAMC Insider section of Site Selection magazine (6 per year)
Works with IAMC board chair on a letter for the IAMC Insider section
Original Content Development
Works with contractors to develop original content for IAMC to include:
CRE-focused article(s) for the IAMC Insider
CRE-focused articles for IAMC Dispatch newsletter
White Papers
Research Reports
Manages contractor relationship and budget
Requirements
The successful candidate should have at least a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five (5) years of experience in association or corporate training, education, research and program development. A positive attitude, flexibility and demonstrated ability to work in a team environment. Must be located in Georgia.
