Summary
This position is a key member of the Governance team responsible for supporting APTA’s representative body, the House of Delegates. Reporting to the Director of House Governance, this role requires an individual who can execute on multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines prescribed in our governing documents, and provide strategic input to ensure the continued effectiveness and efficiency of the House. This is a high-profile department and requires the ability to work closely with association leaders, APTA’s senior staff team, and collaborate effectively with staff across the organization. The Senior Specialist will also be an integral member of an initiative to transform the House by 2030 to increase its impact and ability to move the profession forward. Supports operational needs for and works with APTA leadership. Seeks out and supports opportunities for continuous quality improvement in department activities. Effective champion of the Association vision, mission, and brand.
Essential Functions
Manage all operations and logistics of the annual House of Delegates session;
Support member volunteers serving on House-related committees, councils, and work groups;
Responsible for tracking updates to association bylaws and policies and leads the regular review process;
Leads the motion development process in collaboration with the association’s Reference Committee;
Drafts House scripts, minutes, motion language, manuals, SOPs, and all communications regarding the House;
Oversees the committee onboarding process ensuring all volunteers are adequately prepared and have completed all required steps;
Leads onsite and offsite meeting efforts including travel management, meeting logistics, and BEOs;
Assists the Director with budget development and management;
Supports the Governance-House of Delegates team in the implementation of the programs, priorities, and projects in partnership with the Association and staff colleagues;
Prepares, in consultation with the Director, data which supports and aligns with APTA’s strategic plan.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree preferred
At least 3 years of experience with volunteer management
Work experience in governance a plus
Possess strong attention to detail in work
Ability to exercise discretion working with confidential materials a must
CAE a plus
Project management skills
Excellent and effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate issues clearly and effectively to a broad range of stakeholders
Must be highly organized
Experienced in managing multiple, time sensitive projects and meeting deadlines and seeing projects to completion
Must be proficient in MS Office, advanced Excel a plus; web-based applications.
