Be a part of a dynamic team dedicated to engaging students in STEM through competitions. We are looking for a Project Manager. The Project Manager contributes to NSTA’s mission by assisting the Competitions Division in the execution of the ExploraVision competition. The Project Manager will work closely with the Senior Director of Competitions and external partners to execute all phases of the competition. The Project Manager is the subject-matter expert on all project systems and processes. General responsibilities include project management, data tracking, judging phase management, and event coordination.
This position reports to the Senior Director of Competitions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Planning
· Plan and execute the project’s national event and conference attendance.
· Manage all phases of the competitions, including budget, staff, and resources.
· Create and maintain project plans and SOP guidelines for competition processes.
· Responsible for budget management.
Outreach
· Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
· Develop and execute targeted outreach plan to increase awareness and competition participation.
Communication
· Keep stakeholders, management, and team members informed about the status of tasks and workflows. Present reports on progress, problems, and solutions.
Event Management
· Responsible for logistics: venue setup, transportation, technical requirements, and AV production.
· Direct operations behind the scenes and manage any escalated issues.
Data Analytics
· Compile and examine data to find patterns, trends, and insights.
· Use data analytics to make project processes more efficient and effective.

· Proven ability to develop and maintain strategic partnership.
· Exceptional written and verbal communication skills using various methods to reach diverse audiences.
· Project management, data management, and report management expertise.
· Excellent organizational skills with ability to establish priorities, assist with multiple projects, pay attention to fine details, and meet deadlines under minimal supervision.
· Demonstrated ability to work and multi-task in a fast-paced, high-pressure, deadline-oriented environment.
· Proven ability to work cooperatively with others remotely.
· Ability to proactively recognize potential issues and address concerns appropriately, and to communicate this information to the Senior Director of Competitions.
SUPERVISORY
Supervise one full-time employee.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
Travel and attendance at national events, conferences and events. Estimated maximum 6-8 trips annually.
PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university and 3+ years of project coordination/management experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
