The Engagement Manager will be instrumental in fostering positive relationships with AUVSI members, connecting them to the right programs and opportunities to maximize the value of their membership. In this role, you will actively engage with current members, while also focusing on recruiting new members and overseeing the management of chapters across the organization.
To excel in this position, you will develop and maintain a deep understanding of AUVSI’s value proposition and possess a working knowledge of all its programs and initiatives. Your experience with managing membership chapters will be key in streamlining operations and optimizing their value. Additionally, you will leverage your expertise in executing affinity programs to further strengthen our value proposition to members.
You will be part of a highly collaborative team that integrates marketing and client services. Success in this role will come from establishing strong working relationships both within the organization and with external stakeholders.
Essential Job Functions
Member Engagement - 45%
Manage the full member lifecycle, including onboarding, renewal, and offboarding processes.
Gather and manage member feedback on AUVSI’s membership benefits, programs, and services to ensure continuous improvement.
Stay well-informed on all AUVSI programs and services to be able to respond to inquiries from members and prospective members.
Manage member communications, coordinating across departments on messaging and distribution.
Represent AUVSI at events (both internal and external) to foster member engagement and establish strong relationships with industry.
Partner with Director of Industry Engagement & Marketing to create additional member outreach campaigns, utilizing both manual and automated communication tools.
Collaborate with social media team to suggest, draft, and post content across social platforms.
Develop and execute engagement strategies using Aville, AUVSI’s learning and engagement platform, to enhance member interaction.
Manage AUVSI’s online Career Center and conduct outreach to member organizations to solicit additional postings.
Contribute to membership growth strategies by providing input to the Director of Industry Engagement.
Administrative and Operational - 15%
Assist with engagement activities for Organizational members, including onboarding, engagement check-ins, and serving as the primary contact within the Association.
Prepare mid-year engagement reports and conduct check-ins with members to assess their experience and help plan renewals.
Support the Director of Industry Engagement in delivering member benefits, including organizational visibility, networking opportunities, and recruitment efforts.
Drive the onboarding process for new Organizational member designees.
Oversee the resource that is responsible for the following tasks to ensure completion and accuracy (and provide back-up as needed): § Manage Individual membership joins and renewals § Monitor and respond to inquiries from the membership inbox, routing requests as needed to appropriate team members & departments.
Maintain the membership database, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and quality. Assist with reporting and membership updates.
Project Management and Supervision – 10%
Draft and manage content for Member Spotlights to highlight organizational members across AUVSI’s platforms.
Coordinates cross-department communication and manage projects related to membership engagement initiatives.
Draft and compile a weekly communication to members, highlighting key news, events, and opportunities.
Manage the execution of the AUVSI Affinity Program and ensure deliverables are met.
Sales & Member Prospecting – 20%
Monitor and pursue potential new organizational members from inbound leads given by Industry Development and AUVSI.org information request forms.
Conduct outreach to prospective member organizations, demonstrating the value of AUVSI membership and tailoring messaging to their specific needs.
Collaborate with the Director of Industry Engagement to develop and implement strategies for member acquisition.
Track all prospect interaction in the CRM (Salesforce), ensuring accurate reporting and follow-up to close membership sales.
Attend industry events and represent AUVSI to discover prospective members.
Chapter Liaison – 10%
Serve as the primary liaison between AUVSI Headquarters and Chapter Leaders across various designated regions in the US.
Ensure chapter activities align with AUVSI’s overall goals, meet minimum chapter affiliation requirements, and support growth within local chapters & organizational membership through quantitative assessment
Provide support to Chapter Leaders by facilitating communication, offering resources, and helping with planning AUVSI Headquarters’ support of chapter events.
Maintain regular communication with Chapter Leaders, keeping them informed of latest programs, events, and membership opportunities from AUVSI.
Qualifications
3+ years of experience in member engagement, client relations, or a similar role.
Proven record of building and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders, members, or clients.
Experience managing membership chapters, programs, or affinity groups.
This position will be based in our Arlington, VA office on a hybrid schedule (minimum of three days per week in the office); full remote would be considered for the right candidate.
Some travel is required, typically up to 5% of the time.
Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
