Position Summary
The Project Manager for the "Building Capacity for Generative AI in K-12 Education" project will be responsible for the successful planning, execution, and completion of all project activities within the stipulated timeline and budget. This role is crucial in coordinating cross-functional teams, managing partnerships with key educational organizations (e.g., ESAs, AASA, SETDA), and ensuring project milestones are met. The Project Manager will report to senior leadership at CoSN and work closely with project stakeholders to achieve the goal of increasing K-12 school districts’ capacity to thoughtfully implement AI technologies.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning and Execution
Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and budgets aligned with the overall project objectives.
Oversee the implementation of project activities, including AI summits, training workshops, resource development, and technical assistance programs.
Coordinate logistics for three CoSN Regional Gen AI District Team Summits and four Regional ESA Leader Certification Workshops.
Stakeholder Engagement
Act as the liaison between CoSN and its key partners (e.g., AASA, AESA, SETDA) to ensure smooth collaboration and communication.
Maintain relationships with Education Service Agencies (ESAs), state nonprofit organizations, and participating school districts to ensure they are supported throughout the project.
Regularly engage with district leadership teams to track progress and provide necessary resources for AI readiness.
Monitoring and Reporting
Implement and oversee evaluation processes, including pre- and post-surveys, to assess the effectiveness of professional learning and technical assistance provided.
Collect and analyze data from project activities to inform continuous improvement and project scaling.
Prepare detailed progress reports for CoSN leadership, funders, and other stakeholders, ensuring transparency and accountability in all project operations.
Resource Development
Collaborate with the CoSN Gen AI Committee to develop and refine professional learning materials, AI Maturity Model resources, and an online resource library.
Oversee the creation of new resources, ensuring they are aligned with the specific needs of medium and small school districts.
Work with subject matter experts (SMEs) to ensure training modules are up-to-date and relevant to current AI advancements in K-12 education.
Team Leadership and Collaboration
Lead and manage a cross-functional team, ensuring all members are aligned with the project goals and deadlines.
Provide guidance, coaching, and support to team members to ensure effective execution of their roles.
Facilitate internal team meetings and coordinate efforts across multiple departments and external partners.
Risk Management
Identify and manage risks that could affect project success, including delays, resource constraints, or shifting priorities.
Develop contingency plans and solutions to mitigate potential risks and ensure project continuity.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in project management, education technology, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
Minimum 5 years of experience managing large-scale, multi-stakeholder projects, preferably in the education or nonprofit sector.
Demonstrated experience in coordinating professional development programs and working with educational institutions, particularly K-12.
Strong understanding of AI technologies, including Generative AI, and their application in education.
Exceptional communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
Experience with data collection, analysis, and evaluation methodologies.
Ability to manage budgets and financial reporting for grant-funded projects.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with school districts, especially small and under-resourced districts.
Familiarity with AI ethics, privacy concerns, and responsible AI use in education.
PMP or other project management certification.
