The American Statistical Association, a non-profit professional society located in Old Town Alexandria, has an immediate opening for an experienced, knowledgeable Coordinator to serve our Sections and Interest Groups for the American Statistical Association (ASA). The Section and Interest Group Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the activities of the ASA's various sections and interest groups. These groups are focused on specific subject areas or industries and provide valuable benefits and resources to their members. The coordinator will play a crucial role in ensuring the success and growth of these groups, fostering a strong sense of community, and promoting engagement among members. This is mainly a remote position with occasional in-office requirements.
Major Responsibilities include:
Section and Interest Group Management:
Oversee the formation, development, and maintenance of sections and interest groups aligned with the organization's mission and goals.
Provide guidance and support to section and interest group leaders, ensuring they have the necessary resources and tools to effectively manage their groups.
Coordinate communication and collaboration among different sections and interest groups to foster a sense of unity and shared purpose.
Event Planning and Coordination:
Work with section and interest group leaders to manage logistics of workshops, conferences, and other events related to specific sections and interest groups.
Promote and market events to attract members and non-members.
Membership Engagement:
Foster a strong sense of community and belonging among section and interest group members.
Develop and implement strategies to increase membership engagement and retention.
Encourage members to participate in group activities, events, and discussions.
Election Coordination:
Oversee the election process for section and interest group leaders, working closely with staff who coordinate elections processes.
Verify the list of members eligible to vote
Data Management and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of section and interest group activities, membership data, and event attendance.
Prepare regular reports on the performance and impact of sections and interest groups.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
Strong organizational and project management skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Experience in event planning and coordination.
Knowledge of membership management and database systems.
A passion for the organization's mission and a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive community.
Experience working in a non-profit organization.
Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite
This is mainly a remote position with occasional in-office requirements.
