The Role
The Tech Coalition is seeking its first Director of Administrationto manage the full suite of financial and administrative functions necessary to support the Coalition’s mission of combatting online child sexual abuse and exploitation. The Director will oversee and liaise with a group of external contractors that support the Coalition’s financial management and administration. This role requires an accomplished leader with a strong financial and administrative background, exceptional interpersonal skills, and a deep commitment to our mission.
Objectives:
Ensure responsible stewardship of the Coalition’s financial resources.
Ensure financial resources are deployed with agility to drive the Coalition’s strategic priorities forward.
Ensure administrative functions support and enhance the staff team’s day to day work and employment experience.
Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and applicable governance policies.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management
Manage the organizational finances and budgeting process, ensuring fiscal responsibility and the efficient allocation of resources.
Oversee financial compliance, audits, and risk mitigation strategies.
Ensure proper financial controls are in place and maintained through collaboration with external finance and audit contractors.
Lead the relationship with the Finance Committee, ensuring clear and timely communication of financial information to effectively facilitate their governance role.
Administrative Leadership
Manage and coordinate all outsourced administrative functions, including HR, IT, cybersecurity, finance, audit, event logistics and legal services.
Ensure seamless integration of contractor-provided services to support the Coalition’s strategic goals.
Monitor contractor performance, set expectations, and ensure accountability through service agreements and performance metrics.
Ensure records, policies, and operational procedures are well-maintained, accessible, and aligned with compliance standards.
Continuously evaluate internal processes and policies and propose enhancements that drive organizational efficiency and effectiveness.
Compliance and Risk Management
Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and governance policies applicable to a tech industry trade association.
Develop and implement risk management policies to mitigate operational, financial, and cybersecurity risks.
Work with legal counsel and compliance contractors to ensure the association adheres to best practices in nonprofit governance.
Event Logistics & Operations
Oversee an external contractor responsible for logistics and operational support for external events, ensuring smooth execution.
Support the development of policies and processes for event planning, vendor management, and contract negotiations.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, accounting, nonprofit management, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
10+ years of experience in administrative leadership, finance, operations, or related fields, preferably within a trade association or nonprofit setting.
Demonstrated experience managing outsourced service providers and ensuring contract compliance.
Strong knowledge of financial management, budgeting, and risk assessment.
Understanding of regulatory compliance, governance, and risk management.
Experience working with Board committees, particularly finance or audit committees.
Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to balance multiple priorities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to manage contractor relationships and collaborate with stakeholders.
Preferred but not required:
Experience with cybersecurity best practices and IT infrastructure oversight.
Familiarity with association management systems (AMS) and nonprofit financial reporting.
Ability to develop and implement operational efficiencies within a decentralized administrative structure.
