The Human Resources (HR) Generalist will focus on the efficient execution of HR operations and compliance. The position will manage key HR functions across payroll, benefits, talent acquisition, and employee engagement, while maintaining the Professional Employer Organization (PEO) relationship with Insperity. The HR Generalist will work closely with the Vice President (VP) of HR and middle management to support performance management, compensation administration, and talent development, ensuring HR processes remain efficient, compliant, and aligned with the Plastic Industry Association (PLASTICS) strategic vision and objectives and key results (OKRs). As a trusted HR partner, this individual will also contribute to fostering a positive, high-performance workplace culture, ensuring HR effectively supports PLASTICS' mission and workforce needs.
Responsibilities:
HR Operations & Compliance
Process payroll and administer benefits, coordinating with Insperity and the Controller to ensure accuracy, compliance, and employee satisfaction.
Manage open enrollment, retirement plans, life insurance, and other health & wellness benefits, ensuring compliance and optimizing offerings.
Assist the VP of HR with the creation, revision, and distribution of HR policies and procedures.
Maintain HR documentation, HR data integrity and personnel records, ensuring compliance and document retention policies.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and company policies.
Generate HR metrics and reports to support the VP of HR in providing strategic insights.
Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning
Manage the full recruitment cycle, including job postings, candidate sourcing, interviews, and offer negotiations.
Collaborate with the Finance & Administration department and people manager to administer the onboarding process that enhances the new hire experience and retention, ensuring new hires have a smooth transition into PLASTICS.
Collaborate with the Finance & Administration department and people manager to administer the offboarding process, including exit interviews, system access removal, and final payroll and benefit coordination, and provide insights from exit data to improve the employee experience.
Performance & Talent Management
Support the performance management program, assisting with goal setting, feedback cycles, and career development planning.
Partner with middle management to support employee engagement, productivity, and retention.
Work with the VP of HR in the administrative of the compensation program, including job classification, salary benchmarking, market competitiveness, and pay equity analysis.
Support talent development initiatives, including training and development programs, leadership development, and succession planning.
Employee Culture
Serve as a primary point of contact for HR-related topics, providing guidance on HR best practices and escalating more complex issues as needed.
Partner with the VP of HR on employee engagement initiatives (e.g., annual employee engagement survey, employee recognition programs, well-being initiatives, and team-building activities) that foster a positive, inclusive, and thriving workplace culture.

Working knowledge of core HR functions and trends, including employment laws, compliance, payroll, benefits administration, talent acquisition, performance management, and employee engagement best practices.

Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Management or in a related field; equivalent work experience.
A minimum of three year's experience in a similar role or related position preferably in HR management, operations or generalist.
Experience working in a nonprofit, trade association, professional association, or foundation, with an understanding of mission-driven organizations and their workforce needs.
HR certification or certificate program (e.g., SHRM, HRCI) is a plus.
Experience with HR software’s and systems (e.g., Insperity, Lattice, ExecOnline, Energage) and successfully navigate and optimize technology solutions.
