The North American Equipment Dealers Association (NAEDA) seeks an experienced, visionary, and strategic leader to serve as its next Chief Executive Officer (CEO). As the premier advocacy organization representing over 4,000 North American agriculture, industrial, forestry, and outdoor equipment dealers, NAEDA is dedicated to advancing the interests of its members.
The CEO of NAEDA will assume responsibility for the overall strategic direction, management, and performance of the organization. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO will ensure that all directives and resolutions adopted by the Board are effectively implemented. With broad executive authority, the CEO will oversee the organization’s operations, advocacy efforts, and member engagement strategies, reinforcing NAEDA’s commitment to Advocate, Elevate, and Educate.
This leader will drive the vision and strategic goals of NAEDA, ensuring alignment with the evolving needs of its membership base. They will build relationships with government officials and stakeholders at federal, state, and provincial levels to advance the interests of equipment dealers, even in the absence of deep government affairs knowledge. A key aspect of the role will involve strengthening partnerships with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and other industry stakeholders to enhance collaboration and resolve member issues effectively.
The CEO will develop and execute strategies to engage and support members, ensuring they have access to value-added services and resources. They will oversee all aspects of the organization’s operations, including budgeting, financial oversight, and P&L management, to secure NAEDA’s fiscal sustainability and growth. Leading, mentoring, and developing a high-performing team will be central to fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and innovation.
A critical responsibility of the CEO will be fostering strong connections with other equipment dealer associations that share NAEDA’s common goals. By promoting collaboration and mutual support within the industry, the CEO will reinforce NAEDA’s influence and effectiveness.
Additionally, the CEO will serve as the primary spokesperson and advocate for NAEDA, representing the organization with clarity and authority across various platforms. This includes articulating its vision and advocating effectively to inspire confidence among members and stakeholders while driving the organization forward.
Key Responsibilities
The Chief Executive Officer responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Developing recommendations to the Board of Directors a vision and mission for the organization and creating strategic plans, business plans and budgets to achieve the vision. Strategic planning as well as implementation of the strategies is expected to be continual and on-going.
Hiring and supervising all staff that report to this position and ensure that all staff receive the proper training to ensure they have the skill set necessary to perform their job responsibilities. The CEO is responsible for ensuring that the entire staff is supervised properly including the direction of the work of all employees of the organization.
Foster strong connections with other equipment dealer associations that share NAEDA's common goals, promoting collaboration and mutual support within the industry.
Collaborating with the management team in setting and driving organizational vision, operational strategies and plans along with determining hiring levels in order to build a highly inclusive internal culture.
Translating strategy into actionable steps for growing the Association, providing necessary member services, and ensuring financial viability of the Association.
Collaborating with the CFO to analyze internal operations and identify areas for process improvement to continually improve financial performance and overall effectiveness of the Association.
Building and cultivating trusting relationships with member organizations, partner organizations, and staff.
The CEO is to balance leveraging their strengths and always seeking growth opportunities to improve skillsets, taking on new challenges and exploring areas outside one’s comfort zone. This action will help to bring fresh perspectives to the role.
The CEO may execute all bonds, notes, mortgages and other contracts of the Association and all other instruments for and in the name of the Association.
The CEO may delegate any power, duty of function that has been conferred under the Bylaws or delegation of authority. The CEO reports and has regular communication with the Chairman of the Board of the Association. The CEO in collaboration with the Chairman of the Board will determine the proper cadence of communication to the entire Board of Directors to ensure a complete understanding of expectations.
Proposing and implementing policies and procedures to enable effective communication with the Board of Directors, Members, Industry Stakeholders and the general public.
Providing accurate, complete and timely information to the Board of Director to enable the Board to discharge its obligations and meet its governance and legal responsibilities.
Establishing and implementing procedures to ensure statutory responsibilities are met, effective corporate compliance policies are implemented, and corporate documents and records are properly prepared, approved and maintained.
Performing any other additional tasks and responsibilities as identified by the Chairman of the Board of Directors and/or the entire Board of Directors.

The original organization, “The SouthWestern Association”, was established in 1889 by a group of independent hardware, farm implement, and mercantile dealers to help enhance profitability and address shared concerns. Over the years the organization has continued to merge with other equipment associations both in the US and Canada to form what today is known as NAEDA.
