Leads ISA’s global standards business activity, ANSI-accredited standards program, and relationships with key standards organizations worldwide.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop a strong and cohesive group structure and team, motivating and empowering staff to strive for continual personal and process improvement and efficiency, while overseeing personnel actions including hiring, development, and performance evaluation.
Lead ISA’s global standards business activity, including (a) development and management of business plans and budgets, (b) negotiation and oversight of sales and marketing of standards and related products, (c) generation of standards and related sales ideas and leads to all areas of ISA’s operations, and (d) preparation and review of standards-related articles and information for InTech and other ISA content.
Actively create, develop and execute strategies and programs to increase revenue within department, including collaborating on adoption efforts. This includes but is not limited to proactively identifying companies, organizations, industries, and jurisdictions to potentially adopt ISA standards, as well as identifying and assisting in the preparation of the individual(s) who will pursue the adoption.
Represent ISA in direct interactions with key standards organizations including IEC, ISO, ANSI, USNC, the national standards bodies of countries including China, Japan, Germany, and France, as well as agencies of the US and other governments.
Participate with volunteer and staff leaders in developing ISA strategic goals and initiatives and lead same as assigned by the Executive Director.
Directly support the S&P Board, as well as other groups as assigned by the Executive Director
Monitor technology and industry developments and issues that may impact the development and success of ISA content including standards, training, publications, and symposia.
Financial: Responsible for expense budget exceeding $700,000. Active involvement in financial results/P&L in collaboration with senior leadership and finance team.
Working Relationships
ISA Staff: Works with executive director, directors and product managers in ensuring integration of department activities with other Society activities; provides standards, technical, and industry information and guidance to all staff members and to customers as needed
ISA Members: Works with ISA leaders, governance groups, and individual members across the ISA global community.
Outside ISA: Interacts with industry professionals to remain current and knowledgeable of trends in standards and automation. Maintains contact with other associations, standards-developing organizations, and government agencies. Interacts with authors, vendors, and distributors who provide support and services to the S&P Department and ISA.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Standards Manager, Standards Editor, Standards Administrator, guide or lead standards committee and other volunteer activities; direct sales partners and consultants as needed.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Education: BS in Engineering and knowledge of automation and technology, international standards development, and business practices.Advanced degree preferred.
Professional Experience: At least 15 years in an engineering and/or standards-related role. Strong familiarity with ANSI Central Requirements, ANSI Committee Experience strongly preferred. Strong familiarity with ISO and/or IEC.
Skills & Abilities: Strong project management, interpersonal, organizational, written and oral communication, process improvement, and computer application skills.
