Lead all association member retention and acquisition activities including developing and executing a year-round strategy to achieve annual membership and budgetary goals. Track, analyze and report on recruiting and retention efforts monthly.
Develop strategy and lead initiatives that increase awareness of and contribute to revenue growth and net profitability of NIRI offerings. Oversee the production of all marketing materials related to NIRI programs, products and services including managing outsourced service providers. Manage the NIRI brand and strategic market position.
Serve as Staff Liaison for committees, task forces and other projects as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Vice President, Membership and Chapter Services. This position manages and implements the association’s chapter initiatives.
Manager, Marketing. This position develops marketing campaigns and delivers content to key audiences, building and maintaining a strong and consistent message through a wide range of marketing and communication channels.

The Vice President, Membership and Marketing is a member of the Senior Staff Team and is privy to confidential and sensitive information. The role is highly visible in a community of corporate executives who expect highly professional behavior. The Vice President, Membership and Marketing is expected to achieve specific goals and revenue targets.
Specific Responsibilities
Membership Operations: Develop and execute an integrated and comprehensive membership strategy to support NIRI’s mission, Strategic Plan and Annual Plan of Work.
Implement a year-round retention strategy focused on increasing overall member engagement and increasing the number of individuals within an organization that directly experience the value of NIRI.
Create programs, campaigns, and prospect lists to attract new members
Track universe of potential members and market share.
Develop programs targeting new markets for membership.
Oversee the membership intake and orientation processes to maximize efficiency and develop key messages and communication vehicles targeted to new members during their first and second year of membership.
Create and maintain accurate data within the association database (netFORUM). Build integrity reports and systems to flag and correct missing or erroneous records.
Marketing: Market all NIRI programs, products and services to promote the value of NIRI.
Develop, implement and lead marketing and promotional efforts to achieve financial and engagement targets for all programs, products, and services, including Annual Conference, educational programs, certification, specific constituents, publications, etc.
Conduct member and market research, review post-event evaluations, and provide assessments and recommendations.
Create marketing campaigns, collateral, and other communications.
Write copy and design marketing and promotional communications.
Design and edit marketing and branding on NIRI’s website and email communications.
Analyze member and customer data.
Promote member value proposition and other member messaging in NIRI publications, website, at meetings, etc.
Oversee NIRI social media initiatives.
Branding: Manage NIRI’s branding across the organization, including chapters and all programs.
Ensure consistent communication and use of the NIRI logo, tagline and trademarks and branding on all print and digital vehicles.
Manage other projects and undertake other responsibilities as from time to time may be assigned.
Position Requirements
Demonstrated, increasingly responsible experience in association membership and marketing.
Proven track record of successful revenue and net profit growth.
Experience managing staff and developing and managing a departmental budget. Proficiency with professional association member database systems.
Demonstrated success in developing and delivering marketing campaigns that build brand equity, membership loyalty, and support programmatic outcomes.

Qualifications
Background: A minimum of five years’ experience in membership and marketing at a professional membership association or agency. Extensive hands-on capabilities working with professional association membership databases. Experience in promoting and marketing association educational and other programming. Experience developing marketing material, including digital marketing, video, and social media. Creativity and a demonstrated ability to experiment and innovate is critical. Some understanding of capital markets is a plus. Engagement with ASAE or professional marketing associations is beneficial.
Education: Bachelor’s degree required. A CAE is preferred; attaining the CAE designation is an expectation.
Technical: Experience and capability using NetFORUM, and automated and digital marketing tools, especially Magnet Mail/Higher Logic is required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, including Excel, is required.Working knowledge of HTML, Photoshop, Adobe Creative Suite, Google Analytics and AdWords. Digital video and audio editing capabilities a plus. Ability to work with data analytics is essential. Demonstrated experience with social media tools such as LinkedIn is required.
Other Information
This is a full-time, exempt management position. NIRI’s work week is 37.5 hours. The traditional workweek is Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5 p.m., with an hour for lunch. NIRI is a fully remote workplace, and team members may generally set their own hours, but must be available to collaborate with others and respond to calls during the regular business day.
Casual business attire is generally acceptable, but formal business attire may be required for certain meetings. A professional, executive presence is expected.
