Reporting Structure:
The Manager of Education and Career Development Programs reports directly to the Director of Education and Career Development and functions within the Science & Education group in the Policy & Programs Department. The Manager works collaboratively across the organization’s various departments and is responsible for administering assigned programs and activities and for assisting the Director of Education and Career Development with all activities related to AAI’s education, career, and awards programs.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Education and Career Development Programs
Works with senior staff and relevant stakeholders to manage the development and execution of new and existing education activities based on the needs and gaps of learners
Plays leading role in planning, coordinating, and ensuring successful execution of AAI webinars
Plays a role in developing a robust and engaging online learning program. This position is pivotal in building and managing the online learning lifecycle from course development to delivery. Working with the director and senior staff:
Guides cross-functional teams, coordinates with members, educators, staff, and contractors for content development and execution
Defines clear objectives for online learning
Facilitates development of content relevant to the learning objectives
Executes the vision for the learning experience, creating plans for systematic and integrated content development
Ensures that the program reflects best practices in adult learning, educational technology, and professional training
Makes the content available to learners and coordinates with Marketing to promote it.
Assesses the impact and engagement of the learning experience and identifies areas for improvement based on participant feedback.
Develops and plans career development sessions at the AAI annual meeting
Supports the execution of AAI courses, including the Introductory and Advanced Courses in Immunology, through the following tasks: faculty invitations and communication; production of course printed books and electronic materials; and traveling to courses to assist with on-site logistics and troubleshooting, etc.
Supports the AAI Education Committee with their initiatives, including a teaching article series
Engages with professional education, training, and career development communities, and stays informed on emerging issues and opportunities
Administers or assists with various other career and education programs, including the High School Teachers Program
Assists with marketing and promotion of education and career development programs
Awards Programs
Assists with AAI Outreach Program, including budget development, solicitation of applications, organization of review efforts, timelines, execution of reviews, final award announcements, and processing of award payments
Assists with the Career and Travel Award Programs
Works with senior staff to evaluate current awards and processes, and to develop new awards
General Responsibilities
Analyzes program metrics and advises on trends for process improvement and new initiatives
Manages related member and customer inquiries
Other duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibilities
Depending on experience and aptitude, may supervise a program assistant

AAI currently is working a hybrid office schedule with staff coming into the office two days a week withthe ability to work remotely from home three days a week.
Qualifications and characteristics:
Bachelor’s degree in education, biological science, or other relevant field required. Advanced degree (master’s or Ph.D.) preferred. Knowledge of biomedical research enterprise a plus.
Five years of work experience required; association management experience preferred
Strong project management skills and the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks effectively with minimal supervision
Strong problem-solving skills, ability to develop innovative solutions and effectively implement strategies
Ability to relate to and interact with a wide variety of professional audiences. Excellent interpersonal skills, a positive member-service philosophy and professional demeanor
Proficiency with learning management systems (LMS), association management systems (AMS), Microsoft Office, Asana, and Adobe Acrobat strongly preferred
