Position Overview
The Project Manager, Professional Development is a key staff position that coordinates internal resources and volunteers for the flawless execution of projects specifically relating to the core professional development offerings for IAMC members. This includes:
Managing volunteer speakers and industry-specific subject matter experts in the planning of professional development (workshop-type) sessions to be presented during multi-day conferences, ½-day lunch & learn-style events, and webinar sessions throughout the year.
Along with the Director, Professional Education & Research, ensures each program fulfills the educational requirements set out by the Professional Education Committee
Supported by a member-based committee of industry subject matter experts, the Project Manager, Professional Development is charged with identifying speakers and subject matter experts on topics specifically addressing pre-identified core-components of corporate real estate with an industrial focus – to inform an annual programming plan.
In short, the Project Manager, Professional Development will coordinate people and processes designed to serve the professional development needs of the corporate real estate executive, ensuring that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget.
Reports to the Director, Professional Education & Research.
Key Responsibilities
As staff liaison for the Professional Development Committee; serves as a committee leader coordinating the efforts of this volunteer member advisory group tasked with finding volunteer speakers based on the topics identified by the Director, Professional Education & Research and the Professional Education Committee.
Creates an overarching annual package of programming addressing the 11 identified core corporate real estate topic areas – ensuring that each topic area is presented across multiple channels throughout the year – through advance planning and coordination of volunteer speakers and industry subject matter experts.
Identifies and engages with subject matter experts – both within IAMC’s membership and within the industry at large – as speakers and program support
Focusing on the professional development needs of the corporate real estate executive, supports the development of approximately 50 (40-55 minute) volunteer speaker-led programs annually:
Spring Professional Forum – 15-18 programs across 3 days
Fall Professional Forum – 15-18 programs across 3 days
Webinars – 6-15 programs throughout the year
IAMC Local events - ~7 events, 2-3 programs per event – throughout the year
Communicates detailed programming packages to the Director, Professional Education & Research and other staff for sponsorship sales, event marketing, etc.
Manages each program from inception through implementation: drafting program plans and moderator/introductory remarks, coordinating speaking team in advance including leading pre-event planning/preparation sessions, coaching volunteer speakers on PowerPoint and presentation best practices, and managing the onsite program as appropriate
Drafts, distributes and analyzes post event attendee satisfaction surveys
Requirements
The successful candidate should be an organized project manager and have at least a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five (5) years of experience. A positive attitude, flexibility and demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
Knowledge of association management systems a plus, including Higher Logics and JLL/NOAH.
The position is a hybrid of in-office and remote; must be willing to relocate to the metro Atlanta area.
