The Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) is a member-based association of professionals from across the waste and resource management industry. Committed to advancing from waste management to resource management, we are empowering our members to deliver essential services to communities today and anticipate their needs for tomorrow. SWANA serves industry professionals through technical education, publications and research, and a large offering of technical training courses and credentialing to create a highly skilled workforce.
With 47 Chapters in the US, Canada, the Caribbean, and the Pacific Basin, SWANA members serve as stewards of public health and the environment across North America. Our members work in public and private sectors, as well as non-profit organizations and institutions. Seven technical divisions enable members to track hot topics, connect with experts, and shape the future of solid waste management. SWANA is the leading association for public sector waste and resource management professionals.
Role Overview:
As the Coordinator, Certifications and Training, you will provide technical and logistics support for certification and education activities. Reporting to the Director, Special Projects, the role provides daily, high-quality service to SWANA members, current and perspective certificate holders, training participants, and other industry professionals. This person is a well-organized, professional individual with exceptional customer service skills and experience.
Responsibilities:
Administer the certification process, including processing applications, continuing education credit submission and approval, renewal notice distribution, application verification and approvals, and certificate distribution.
Enter and maintain accurate records and information for certifications in SWANA’s AMS – re:Members.
Monitor, maintain, and update certification related webpage content as needed.
Provide scheduled and ad hoc certification reports.
Adhere to, update, and maintain certification records and standard operating procedures.
Set up and monitor online registration for training events.
Monitor and process requests for service-related online training manuals.
Provide support for contracted training, including preparing and ordering materials, executing shipments, and processing expense reports.
Conduct research as requested for education and certification efforts.
Deliver exceptional customer service by replying to all inquiries within one business day, assisting customers directly whenever possible by providing complete and accurate information.
Track incoming customer service requests.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
1+ years experience in data entry, management, and reporting.
1+ years working in a customer service capacity.
Strong Microsoft Office proficiency and demonstrated ability to learn new software.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities
At least a two-year degree from accredited college or university.
Knowledge of re:Members (formerly Impexium) or other association management system.
Interest in and/or knowledge of continuing education and certification processes and practices.
Experience working in an association/non-profit setting.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
This position will work in a hybrid capacity but must be based in the Washington D.C. area.
