The Senior Director, Partnerships & Governance is responsible for ensuring effective decision making at and among all governance levels, building and maintaining strong relationships with other organizations, and directing strategic initiatives as needed. This is a highly collaborative position that requires strong relationships with senior leadership and member leaders to drive forward the Endocrine Society’s mission to unite, lead and grow the endocrine community around the world.
This pivotal role is responsible for developing and implementing best governance practices, supporting member leaders, and ensuring staff across the Society have the tools, skills, and information needed to execute the organizational vision. The Senior Director will build upon the Endocrine Society’s relationships, partnerships, engagements, and special initiatives worldwide to achieve strategic priorities.
What you’ll bring to the job:
Bachelor's degree required, nonprofit management, or a related field preferred.
7-10 years of professional experience in relationship management or business development to drive value and growth
At least 5 years’ experience in governance management to include committee and/or Board of Director’s support, reporting and relationship management
Experience in scientific or medical membership societies/non-profit environments is essential

Excellent verbal and written communication skills including grammar, spelling, and proofreading
Ability to exercise discretion, confidentiality, and care in handling complex matters
Ability to travel domestically and internationally. Occasional work on weekends to attend our annual meeting, Board and committee meetings and stakeholder meetings that are both U.S. based and non U.S. based.

What you’ll own:
In collaboration with the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), identify, nurture, and manage relationships with external strategic individuals and groups, including other membership organizations, and other strategic relationships to ensure an aligned and cohesive partnerships strategy.
Manage the development and operations of the Global Endocrine Leadership Coalition (GELC) in partnership with peers across the Endocrine Society. This includes programming, logistics, collateral and marketing campaigns, membership communications, and evaluation and outcomes reporting.
Provides support for brand-consistent Society communications to critical partnership communities (e.g., peer societies, target customer bases, global endocrinology communities) including websites, social media, and emails. Assures quality, timeliness, and relevancy for content to key audiences.
Leads broad environmental scanning across all areas of endocrinology to ensure that the Society stays abreast of new and emerging areas of endocrinology worldwide that may produce new partnership opportunities for new programs, products and services.
Oversees the governance and strategy teams to ensure effective support of the Society’s governance members and the CEO. Manages the annual rhythm of the business for member leader engagement, ensuring consistent, quality experience for all governance members, supported by robust internal planning, execution and post meeting action items.
In collaboration with leadership, reviews and recommends revisions to existing operational and governance policies and practices designed to increase consistency, best practices, and compliance throughout the Society.
Designs contemporary governance models to support existing and future needs of the Society, including the Hormone Foundation, which is expected to launch later this year.
Provides project management oversight for select mission-critical pilot projects, new governance models, and/or strategic initiatives.
Provides oversight to the administration of Society governance activities including, but not limited to, nominations, appointments, and elections to the Board of Directors, committees, and Board of Trustees, organizational award programs, etc.
Works in coordination with the Director of Board Operations and CEO to develop Board agendas and materials, working collaboratively with staff to set, prepare, and execute agendas, meetings, materials, minutes, board reports, and other governance activities.
Serves as a lead on specific strategic priorities and conducts competitive or business intelligence, develop recommended approaches with data and key performance indicators for strategic analysis on measures of success and impact.
Supports the CEO and other leadership staff on emerging organizational priorities to address and resolve key strategic issues.
Work across departments to consolidate insights on trends, emerging developments and member/customer/stakeholder needs to formulate and adjust our strategy to drive sustainable values and growth.
May serve as primary staff liaison to new or emerging committees, task forces or member workgroups.
Develop and manage the budgets and resource requests.
Lead, coach, and develop team members, ensuring roles are clearly defined and expectations are aligned.

This position is located in Washington, DC and walking distance to Metro and major bus lines. The Endocrine Society offers a flexible, hybrid work environment.
