Key Focus Areas
Membership Engagement & Growth:
Ensure that ALA is maximizing value to all members thereby increasing membership participation and satisfaction
Create initiatives to improve membership retention and engagement
Explore expansion of membership into new categories
Improve and expand membership benefits
Strategy & Business Management:
Refine & execute strategy for the organization that includes innovative ways to grow the organization that will be presented to the Board of Governors
Explore options to attract a broader audience of members
Build ALA as the go-to expert on all technical aspects of residential lighting & ceiling fans, especially for consumers
Explore new diversified funding sources to ensure the future long term success
Manage the annual budget and existing revenue streams
Lead a High Performing Team:
Build a high-performing team of professionals and create accountability and key performance indicators to ensure the success of all members
Prioritize key initiatives supporting the overall strategy and execute on a timely basis
Evaluate and optimize the organizational structure; internal team, programs, and committees to ensure all systems and processes are productive and value-added.
Other Focus Areas include:
Government engagement - Bring together different membership segments to create a strong collective industry voice that advocates for the lighting and ceiling fan industry at the national and state level. Create ways for the industry to be heard in government and represent the lighting industry in public hearings to provide our industry’s perspective.
Affiliate & partnership relationships - Cultivate and manage affiliate relationships with key industry stakeholders to benefit the affiliates and the membership.
Qualifications
10+ years experience in a senior leadership position in an organization. Have organizational leadership skills and an entrepreneurial spirit to think creatively about ways to expand revenue, engage members, and make pragmatic choices that achieve impact while limiting organizational expenses
Manage all aspects of operations, including communications, finance, education, events, government affairs, human resources, membership and industry technical relations.
Lead and build a high performing team and develop great people
Experience working in a regulated industry understanding federal, state, and local government relations/government affairs
Experience working in a nonprofit trade association or experience in a relatable industry is preferred
Position Details
Direct reports currently work a flexible hybrid schedule from home and Dallas, Texas.
This position requires travel to Dallas and other locations dependent on industry shows, conventions and other lighting/ceiling fan related events.
