The Certification Board for Diabetes Care and Education (CBDCE) is seeking a Certification Program Manager. CBDCE is a national certifying body that oversees a certification program for health professionals who work in the field of diabetes education and care. Almost 20,000 individuals currently hold active certification as a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) and an additional program is coming on line in 2025.
This position is a vitally important one and is part of the ‘small but mighty’ CBDCE team. This role is a great opportunity to have a significant impact on the success of an organization. The CBDCE national office is located in Schaumburg, IL and we offer the option of a hybrid environment, with a minimum of 3 days working in the office.
The position has a major emphasis on management of the certification programs, including integration with different platforms and management of support staff. The individual will also work with several different committees and fellow staff members in the following areas:
Certification program management – all aspects, including certification services staff oversight, appeals/complaints processing/review, technology-related needs, production of handbooks, mentorship program oversight, working with committees on everything from identifying meeting dates to reviewing eligibility requirements for initial and renewal of certification, distribution of certificates and wallet cards for those attaining or renewing certification, maintaining inventory of related certification products such as handbooks, wallet cards. You’ll also support the programs by staffing select exhibits.
Finance-related activities – tracking/approving invoices related to certification program needs, as well as accounting of revenue for the certification program
Various other activities.

Qualifications and Requirements:
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in business or related field or 5+ years of equivalent experience
Holding the I.C.E. Certified Credentialing Professional® (ICE-CCP®) credential or completion of the certificate program for Credentialing Specialist, or certificate in not-for-profit management or other relevant program preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of experience with a not-for-profit certification or accreditation organization or association, certification experience preferred
Experience serving in supervisory capacity
Familiarity with National Commission of Certifying Agencies accreditation or other accreditation process preferred
Highly organized and self-reliant; ability to manage multiple projects, including handling concurrent assignments, prioritizing and organizational skills
Finance and accounting experience
Clear and consistent communicator (written and verbal), good writing and proofreading skills
Ability to communicate with variety of stakeholders, including certificants, fellow staff members, volunteer leadership
Enjoy small staff environment
Willing and available to work weekends, approximately 9-10 times per year
Willing and available to travel, approximately 3-6 times per year
Ability and interest in working with data and all different types of technology
Computer proficiency in MS Office Suite– includes:
Overall – understanding of general file layout in a network, concept of saving into particular folders, etc.
Word – intermediate level of proficiency – ability to create merge letters, forms, labels and merge with data from a variety of sources, ability to create fairly complicated forms, etc.
Excel –intermediate level of proficiency – development and maintenance of detailed spreadsheets
Outlook – beginning proficiency - ability to handle incoming/outgoing mail, organize folders, enter tasks, projects, appointments
Powerpoint – beginning proficiency- ability to create simple presentations
Computer/Software proficiency – Other:
Database – intermediate proficiency, experience in database management, e.g., experience in entering/updating database records, integration with outside applications, report creation/maintenance, etc. ACGI Association Anywhere experience preferred.
Adobe acrobat and photoshop – beginner proficiency, e.g., ability to convert and manipulate documents, photos, create fillable forms
Quickbooks – beginning proficiency
Website – beginning to intermediate proficiency, e.g., ability to add and revise content of web site, using content management applications
Internet – intermediate proficiency, e.g., ability to access internet for research purposes
