The American Society of Transplantation (AST) is a non-profit medical association dedicated to advancing the field of organ transplantation and improving patient outcomes. We are seeking a Development Manager to play a critical role in executing fundraising initiatives that engage individual donors and corporate partners. This position requires a strategic, results-driven professional with a strong background in fundraising and marketing to develop donor engagement strategies, expand corporate sponsorships, and enhance brand awareness. The Development Manager will report to the Chief Development Officer (CDO) and work collaboratively across departments to drive revenue growth and build strong relationships with key stakeholders.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Fundraising & Donor Relations
Develop and implement strategies to cultivate, solicit, and steward individual donors and corporate sponsors.
Manage and grow a portfolio of individual and corporate donors, ensuring long-term engagement and retention.
Create customized fundraising campaigns and donor recognition programs to maximize impact.
Identify new corporate sponsorships, grants, and other funding opportunities.
Collaborate with leadership to set fundraising goals and track progress.
Marketing & Communications
Develop and execute marketing strategies to enhance fundraising efforts and increase donor engagement.
Create compelling donor communications, including email campaigns, social media content, and fundraising appeals.
Work closely with the communications team to ensure brand consistency across all platforms.
Oversee the development of promotional materials, impact reports, and event collateral.
Event Planning & Community Engagement
Plan and execute donor and corporate appreciation events.
Represent AST at networking events, conferences, and meetings to build relationships with potential donors and partners.
Partner with internal teams to develop and implement strategies that enhance the donor experience.
REQUIREMENTS
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field (Experience in association management is a plus!).
3-5 years of experience in fundraising, donor relations, corporate sponsorships, or marketing.
Required Skills & Competencies:
Exceptional communication skills – both verbal and written.
Collaboration – Ability to work effectively with staff, volunteers, and external partners.
Creativity – Innovative thinking to develop new fundraising and marketing strategies.
Diplomacy & Relationship Building – Strong interpersonal skills and sensitivity to donor engagement protocols.
Project Management – Ability to manage multiple projects and meet overlapping deadlines with keen attention to detail.
Technical Skills – Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially PowerPoint); knowledge of HTML, email marketing software, and social media platforms is a plus.

The American Society of Transplantation (AST) is a 501(c)(3) mission-driven professional society that serves its membership of more than 5,000 clinicians and researchers in the fields of organ donation and transplantation as well as the larger transplant community of organ transplant candidates, recipients, living donors, deceased donor families, and caregivers. This nonprofit organization focuses on its pillars of advocacy, education, research, organ donation, and service to the patient community. The Society provides online and in-person educational opportunities for its members, facilitates funding of research to advance the field and maximize the gift of organ donation, and advocates on a legislative and regulatory level to benefit transplant candidates and recipients and living donors.
To accomplish this, the AST employs a talented team of 20 staff members to meet member and community needs. The organization has maintained a growth trajectory, doubling its staff and offerings since 2015. Financially healthy, the operating budget sits at $5.25 million with a strong endowment of $17 million with $2.5 million raised annually.
