REPORTS TO: Director of Practice & Policy DIRECT REPORTS: None STATUS: Exempt (Minimum of 37.5 hours/week)
GENERAL SUMMARY: Reporting to the Director of Practice & Policy and working closely with the Practice & Policy team, advocacy committee leadership and other appropriate committees, the Manager of State Advocacy & Policy Outreach is responsible for facilitating legislative and regulatory outreach in conjunction with regional, state and local allergy society leadership, state medical societies, and relevant government relations partners, on issues reflecting AAAAI advocacy policies and to address practice burdens and patient access to care issues.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES (Minimum of 37.5 hours/week):
Drive and manage the development and ongoing strategy of impactful state level advocacy outreach and communications to and on behalf of members of the AAAAI and regional, state and local member societies, particularly by encouraging and facilitating member engagement in issues impacting the practice of Allergy/Immunology and patient access to specialty care.
Foster new and existing relationships with state-level related organizations, government agencies, relevant policy and advocacy groups, etc. Includes organization and preparation for all such meetings, teleconferences and webinars as well as capturing meeting notes, monitoring action items and facilitating other needed follow-through. This specifically includes but is not limited to engagement with the American Medical Association Scope of Practice Partnership activities.
Serve as liaison to various assigned committees and constituencies within the AAAAI, including the Regional, State and Local Allergy, Asthma & Immunology Assembly Board of Governors. Coordinate and facilitate meetings, Zoom and conference calls, and other activities; provide support as needed to achieve objectives.
Contribute to a collaborative team environment to advance ideas and priorities, and execute related tasks and activities to ensure alignment and coordination with our federal relations strategy.
Produce and support colleagues in the production of high-quality materials, including legislative testimony, letters to key officials, issue briefs, language for infographics, etc. to state policymakers to support the organization’s policy positions and advocacy goals.
Provide administrative support to team and other staff as needed. For example, preparation of annual meeting materials for the Practice & Policy Division is done by the full team working together, and this position will be responsible for some documents in that process.
When appropriate and as assigned, represent the AAAAI and its interests as needed in various public policy and advocacy capacities.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Bachelor’s Degree required.
Outstanding interpersonal, organizational and communication skills are required. Ability to be flexible, multi-task and prioritize work with a strong attention to detail and accuracy is a must. Able to work successfully individually and in a team environment.
Three to five years of association management and/or advocacy and policy work is strongly preferred. Experience in a healthcare environment is a plus.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Occasional weekend and evening work will be required.
Travel required of up to 2-3 weeks per year.
Attendance at the AAAAI Annual Meeting is required for this position. Exceptions may be made due to physician-approved circumstances, based on AAAAI/EDI policy or supervisor discretion.

*This position is located in downtown Milwaukee, WI and a minimum of two days onsite in the office (including Wednesday as an all-staff-in-office day) are a requirement of the role.
