The Volunteer & Operations Manager plays a pivotal role in the Member Engagement Department, overseeing volunteer engagement initiatives and ensuring the smooth functioning of day-to-day operations. This position is instrumental in fostering a vibrant culture of volunteerism, collaboration, and operational excellence within the department and among members. By effectively managing volunteer resources and operational processes, the Volunteer & Operations Manager contributes significantly to the achievement of CalCPA's strategic objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Volunteer Management:
Develop and execute comprehensive strategies for volunteer recruitment, training, and management, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and values.
Implement best practices for volunteer engagement and recognition to foster a sense of belonging and motivation among volunteers.
Serve as the primary point of contact for volunteers, providing guidance, support, and resources to facilitate their success in their respective roles.
Lead the nominations process for chapter leadership positions, ensuring a transparent and equitable selection process.
Operational Management:
Oversee day-to-day operational functions, including budgeting, strategy development, and communication with chapter leaders and volunteers.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop and implement operational policies and procedures that enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Maintain accurate records and documentation related to volunteer management and operational activities, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, governance and organizational standards.
Collaboration and Communication:
Collaborate closely with other Member Engagement teams to align volunteer efforts with broader organizational objectives and initiatives.
Serve as a liaison between volunteers, leadership, and external stakeholders, facilitating communication and collaboration on strategic initiatives.
Provide regular updates and reports on volunteer engagement and operational activities to senior management and relevant stakeholders.
Onsite Support:
Provide onsite support at chapter activities and events as needed, ensuring the smooth execution of volunteer and operational responsibilities.
Act as a visible and accessible presence at chapter events, fostering positive relationships with volunteers and stakeholders.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field preferred.
3-5 years of experience in volunteer management or related roles.
Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective volunteer engagement strategies.
Proficiency in budget management, strategic planning, and stakeholder communication.
Experience working in a nonprofit or association setting is desirable.
Up to 30-40% travel throughout California is required for this position to attend chapter activities and events
