Job Summary: The Director of Marketing will play a crucial role in shaping the marketing strategy and delivery for ASUG. Marketing at ASUG is a vital supporting service to the product delivery and sales teams. This role requires a leader who can drive member value and engagement, drive member and audience acquisition and retention, enhance brand visibility, and effectively manage the team and the marketing operation. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in marketing leadership, a deep understanding of associations and membership organizations, member engagement, and a proven track record in efficient marketing planning and budget and program management to achieve organization goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
Develop and implement comprehensive marketing strategies aligned with ASUG’s goals and objectives.
Lead and mentor the marketing team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
Identify and leverage market trends, insights, and opportunities to drive member engagement and growth.
Engage collaboratively with other stakeholders to spur innovation, support key initiatives, and drive mutually beneficial outcomes.
Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to keep the company current with applicable marketing innovation.
Stakeholder Collaboration and Support:
Work closely with other departments, (e.g., Sales, Content, Research, Chapters, Communities, and Events) to ensure cohesive and effective marketing results.
Collaborate with Event, Content, and Chapter planning teams to ensure successful promotion and attendance at conferences, webinars, and Chapter events.
Work with Customer Success Management to understand member value and how ASUG can anticipate and meet member needs.
Work with Sales and Acquisition to build awareness, attract new members, and retain current members.
Build and maintain relationships with other key stakeholders including SAP marketing, partners, and volunteers.
Member Value and Engagement:
Responsible for marketing initiatives to attract/acquire and retain members.
Support research initiatives to gain deeper understanding of member value.
Work with peers to create or re-develop programs and campaigns to enhance member engagement and participation.
Budgeting and Financial Management:
Work with the team to develop and manage the marketing budget, ensuring allocation and results are in alignment with strategic priorities.
Proactively analyze, monitor, and report on the effectiveness of marketing expenditures, optimizing budget allocation to maximize ROI.
Brand Management:
Oversee the development and execution of branding initiatives to enhance ASUG’s visibility and reputation.
Ensure consistency in messaging and branding across all outlets, marketing channels, and materials.
Campaign Development and Execution:
Lead the creation and execution of effective, targeted multi-channel marketing campaigns to drive membership growth, retention, and engagement.
Measure and analyze campaign performance, making data-driven adjustments to improve outcomes.
Digital Marketing:
Drive ASUG’s digital marketing strategy, including website management, social media, email marketing, and online advertising.
Utilize analytics and data-driven insights to optimize marketing campaigns and measure their effectiveness.
Reporting and Analytics:
Develop and present regular reports on marketing performance, KPIs, and ROI to senior leadership and the board of directors.
Implement analytics tools and processes to track and measure the success of marketing initiatives.
People Management:
Define team performance and professional development goals and ensure they are clear, aligned with organizational outcomes, and evident in individual goals.
Manage team performance to ensure outcomes.

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field (master's degree preferred).
10+ years of marketing experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
Strong experience and with understanding of membership associations and their unique marketing needs.
Demonstrated success in developing and executing strategic marketing plans.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in digital marketing, social media, content creation, and analytics tools.
Proven experience in effective budget management and financial planning.
Ability to think creatively, strategically, and analytically.
