The Council of Independent Colleges (CIC) seeks a full-time Membership Services and Tuition Exchange Program Manager. The position is available immediately.
POSITION SUMMARY
As a central role in CIC’s member engagement team, the Membership Services and Tuition Exchange Program Manager collects, organizes, and maintains membership data in CIC’s association management system; manages recruitment and renewal processes; manages the Tuition Exchange Program; provides direct service to members; and works closely with colleagues to develop and support effective member engagement strategies. Successful managers at CIC bring high attention to operational details, lean into strategic project management, and independently advance areas under their purview.
ABOUT CIC
The Council of Independent Colleges is the major national organization for independent colleges and universities. Membership includes more than 700 colleges, universities, and higher education organizations. CIC’s mission is threefold: support and develop campus leaders; advance the excellence of member institutions; and enhance public understanding of the contributions that independent higher education makes to society.
A 30+-person staff, based at One Dupont Circle in Washington, DC, develops and manages a dynamic set of networks, conferences, projects, programs, and services; research and public information initiatives; and a range of other activities to advance all three mission areas.
WORKING AT CIC
CIC is an equal opportunity employer and offers competitive compensation and benefits. Full-time CIC staff have the option to work remotely on two designated days per week. Work hours are flexible around designated “core hours.” The generous benefits package includes health, vision, and dental insurance; a strong retirement savings matching program (up to 10% with no time delay for matching); short- and long-term disability insurance; life insurance; and generous vacation and sick leave. Employees and their dependents may be eligible to participate in CIC's Tuition Exchange Program. More information on CIC’s work culture can be found here.

Reporting to the Vice President for Member Engagement, the Membership Services and Tuition Exchange Program Manager is primarily responsible for operationalizing membership recruitment, engagement, and retention strategy. The Membership Services and Tuition Exchange Program Manager oversees the maintenance and administration of CIC’s membership billing and renewal processes, leads annual member engagement initiatives, maintains the member database, and acts as the primary point of contact for all membership and billing inquiries. Additionally, the Membership Services and Tuition Exchange Program Manager oversees the Tuition Exchange Program and is a major customer service representative for the organization. Duties include the following:

- Welcome and initiate new presidents and CAOs into the CIC network through appointment tracking and correspondence with presidents and their offices.
- Monitor CIC email inbox for membership inquiries.
Database Maintenance and Vendor Relations:
- Hold ultimate responsibility for maintaining the database of CIC members.
- Contribute to presidential and other member data research initiatives that help CIC identify sector needs and historical trends.
- Build expertise in CIC data tools (Microsoft CRM-based Association Management System (AMS), Power BI, etc.)
- Manage contact records and general database updates.

- Monitor new records created in UX database and field website-related inquiries from CIC contacts.
- Support data governance policies and practices and implement training procedures to ensure CIC data is optimally structured to be useful for internal and external audiences.
Tuition Exchange Program Management:
- Manage Tuition Exchange Program (TEP) monitoring, invoicing, and billing.
- Field questions about TEP from students, parents, institution HR departments and representatives, and work with colleagues to find appropriate answers.
- Aid initiatives to expand member access to the TEP network.
- Assist in annual program updates.
Other Duties as Assigned:
- Take on other duties as membership and member programming/networking needs evolve.
