About The Foundation The Foundation for Physical Therapy Research (Foundation) is the only national nonprofit solely dedicated to funding physical therapy research and promising researchers through grants, scholarships, and fellowships. We fund research and develop researchers to optimize movement and health. The Foundation is an affiliate of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). Foundation staff are employed by APTA and receive the same employee benefits and adhere to APTA policies and procedures.
Summary
The Associate, Fundraising and Operations is a critical role in supporting the daily operations of the organization. This position requires a highly organized, detail-oriented individual with excellent communication skills. The Associate is responsible for a variety of activities that ensure the smooth functioning of the Foundation’s activities. The Associate must have demonstrated strong administration and organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to track and prioritize tasks. This key role will be responsible for donor acknowledgements, assisting with ensuring the accuracy of donor records, and supporting the development team in achieving fundraising goals. The Associate will report to the CEO and will work collaboratively with the Foundation team.
Essential Functions
Serves as primary point of contact for phone calls, monitors general emails inboxes and opens mail, responds to correspondence daily, and forwards messages and mail to the correct staff member.
Directly responds to donor correspondence and queries.
Schedules team meetings, creates agendas, books conferences rooms.
Schedules, tracks, records, and updates moves for major and planned gifts in the CRM in coordination with CEO and Development Manager in database.
Assists with queries and exports for direct mail / email and fundraising programs.
Supports volunteers and board members, including logistics, makes hotel reservations, assists with travel, provides reimbursement forms, and manages reimbursement processes.
Reconciles the corporate credit card statement.
Works with events staff to support planning including inventory tracking and shipping for conferences.
Creates donation logs.
Manages timely acknowledgement process, including tax notification letters, thank you letters, and other correspondence.
Provides back-up data-entry support.
Supports specific functions of review of data entry.
Provides administrative support to the CEO including updating and compiling documents, maintaining and organizing files, both electronic and paper, ensuring all documentation is up-to-date and easily accessible.
Supports the annual state registration process to ensure compliance.
Supports the Scientific Programs and Communications team on a project basis.

Qualifications
2 years of relevant experience; undergraduate degree preferred.
Demonstrated ability to provide support with event coordination.
Self-starter, resourcefulness in problem-solving with grace under pressure.
Must be highly organized and able to meet deadlines.
Excellent spoken and written communication skills with strong attention to detail. Ability to set and manage priorities and multiple projects, moving them forward simultaneously.
Must be proficient in MS Office and web-based applications.
Experience using a donor database system such as Raiser's Edge a plus.
Travel Requirements
Up to 10% - local and national.
