ADLM, a DC-based dynamic, international scientific/medical society of clinical laboratory professionals, physicians, and research scientists focused on clinical chemistry and related disciplines, is seeking a Director, Data Science Program.
The Director, Data Science Program reports to the Chief Science and Policy Officer and is responsible for overseeing the activities that bring visibility to ADLM as a leader in driving and influencing the pace and practice of data science in laboratory medicine. The scope of ADLM data science includes data analytics, informatics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence (AI). The position works collaboratively across departments and with experts to implement the ADLM data science portfolio of education and training, standards and advocacy, and community building activities. The position supports all activities that demonstrate, promote, and communicate ADLM as:
· The ultimate convener of organizations across the broad healthcare data science field, sharing best practices, advocating for change, and addressing challenges.
· The go-to group in establishing standards and in delivering training and education for the profession to develop literacy and fluency, advance, and grow.
· The experts who are sought after for their knowledge, contributions, and influence in setting direction and in serving as champions.
Specific Responsibilities Include:
· Work closely with the Chief Science and Policy Officer to design the ADLM data science portfolio to meet strategic priorities and to report performance to staff and member leadership.
· Serve as staff liaison to the Data Analytics Steering Committee to include the development of agendas, meeting materials, and manage logistics.
· As Director, oversee and manage all aspects of the ADLM’s data science portfolio, including budgetary authority.
· Collaborate with staff and teams across the association to achieve ADLM data science portfolio goals.
· Contribute to the content development of education and training programs in collaboration with experts.
· Contribute to communications and marketing activities for the ADLM data science portfolio, especially on digital content across audiences.
· Facilitate and contribute to expert advice on data science research in the laboratory and as part of the larger healthcare system.
· Facilitate relationship-building with relevant organizations in public and private sectors, identifying and cultivating partnerships and collaborations to meet association goals.
· Monitor the environment for best practices, trends, and opportunities to support ADLM’s data science portfolio.
· Occasionally, travel to and attend meetings to support programs.
· Other duties as assigned.
The successful candidate will have strong time management and organization skills and enjoy working in a team-based environment. The ideal candidate will have:
· At least ten years of related work experience or additional work experience in lieu of degree.
· Two or more years of experience in a professional or trade association is preferred.
· Experience with data analytics and the application of data science tools and techniques in healthcare, including use of machine learning, statistical modeling and natural language processing techniques.
· Experience with data visualization and dashboard solutions using standard business intelligence tools.
· Understanding of data science and analytic methodologies applicable to real-world evidence.
· Strong relationship-building skills, especially in connecting with relevant experts and organizations.
· Strong verbal and written communication skills.
· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Ability to independently set, manage, and meet priorities under changing conditions
· Experience supporting volunteer groups is preferred.

ADLM currently is working a hybrid office schedule with staff coming into the office one day a week with the ability to work remotely from home up to four days a week. Successful candidates will reside in or relocate to Washington DC, Maryland or Virginia.
