Work Mode:
The National Communication Association (NCA) operates in a hybrid work mode: two days in the office and three days of telework. Staff are expected to be in the office on Tuesdays for strategic planning and other ongoing discussions with the Executive Director. The work mode is regularly reviewed to meet the Association's evolving needs, and such review may necessitate changing a position’s mode of work designation.
Reporting Structure:

NCA’s Communications Assistant reports to the Senior Communications Manager.

Summary:
The National Communication Association (NCA) seeks a dynamic and experienced Senior Communications and Marketing Manager to lead the development and implementation of effective communication strategies. This individual will enhance NCA's visibility among members by promoting the Association’s programs, initiatives, and resources. The Senior Communications and Marketing Manager will oversee various communications channels, including direct member emails, social media, NCA’s monthly newsletter, Inside & Out, and press releases, ensuring consistent messaging and alignment with NCA’s mission.
Primary Responsibilities:
Content Creation & Management:
Write, edit, and oversee the distribution of high-quality content for member emails, newsletters, press releases, and other communications.
Manage NCA’s website content, ensuring all items are updated and relevant to key audiences.
Oversee the creation of promotional materials, brochures, and annual reports.
Social Media & Digital Communications:
Lead NCA’s social media strategy and manage its digital presence across platforms.
Develop and maintain a social media content calendar to engage members and followers with timely and relevant content.
Track and analyze social media performance, making recommendations to improve engagement and reach.
Event Promotion & Marketing:
Collaborate with the internal departments to promote NCA’s Annual Convention, Virtual Learning Opportunities, public programs, workshops, and other events.
Create and implement marketing plans to support event attendance.
Brand Management:
Ensure all communications are aligned with NCA’s brand guidelines and maintain a consistent tone and message.
Monitor external perceptions of NCA and take proactive steps to protect and enhance its reputation.
Strategic Communication Planning:
Work with the Executive Director and staff to develop and execute comprehensive communication strategies to advance NCA’s mission and vision.
Identify opportunities to increase NCA’s visibility and engagement with members, stakeholders, and the public.
Track and analyze communication efforts, using data-driven insights to adjust strategies.
Report on communication metrics, demonstrating the impact and reach of NCA’s communication initiatives.
Key Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field.
At least five years of experience in communications, marketing, or a related role, preferably within a not-for-profit or association.
Ability to work effectively independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Strong writing, editing, and content creation skills, with experience managing digital platforms.
Proficiency in social media management, digital marketing, and website content management.
Strong organizational and project management skills with attention to detail.
Knowledge of communication trends and best practices in the nonprofit and/or academic sectors.
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with the Communication discipline and its related academic community.
Experience with association management systems (AMS), email marketing platforms (Constant Contact), graphic design tools (Canva, Adobe Illustrator), and social media management tools (Meltwater).
Knowledge of and proficiency with various computer software applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
