Position Summary:
EDUCAUSE is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Senior User Experience Engineer to join the Web Services Team. Reporting to the Director of Web Services, the Senior User Experience Engineer will be instrumental in shaping and improving the user experience across our organization's web properties. The role will collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, create user stories, design wireframes and prototypes, and conduct usability testing. The Senior User Experience Engineer will also work closely with the development team to implement visually engaging and intuitive solutions. The ideal candidate will champion user-centered design principles and regularly conduct research, testing, and web quality audits to identify opportunities for continuous improvement. Additionally, this role will support the build and configuration of CMS components and web pages.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Serve as Owner and final approver, in collaboration with Director, Web Services, of all web interface designs
Collaborate with stakeholders and team members to gather requirements and translate business objectives into effective UX/UI design solutions.
Design wireframe mockups, prototypes, and user stories to communicate design concepts and interactions.
Collaborate with the development team to implement intuitive, accessible, and user-centric web interfaces.
Conduct user acceptance testing (UAT) to ensure successful solution deliveries by developing well-defined testing scenarios, clear acceptance criteria, and structured processes.
Partner with the Web Support Specialist in providing web pages creation and content update support for various CMS web properties.
Configure and modify various CMS components via CMS admin GUIs to meet web operation and project requirements.
Lead research, testing, accessibility and web quality audits regularly to identify user needs, pain points, and opportunities for continuous improvement.
Participate in product support sprints and cross-functional committees/working groups in the role of UI / UX Subject Matter Expert (SME), as assigned.
Create and maintain documentation throughout the UX/UI development lifecycle, such as specifications, wireframes, user stories, component libraries, UAT acceptance criteria, reports and information architecture diagrams
Aligns all new interface development with published EDUCAUSE style and branding guides
Continuously research and apply the latest UX/UI trends, tools, and technologies to improve web experiences.
Advocate for web consistency, accessibility, and usability across all digital platforms.
Association Service and Support
Represent EDUCAUSE in a professional manner at all times; engages with co-workers, volunteers, and members in a civil, caring, respectful way.
Attend conferences/trainings and conduct industry research to establish thought leadership and bring new knowledge to the organization.
Supports members in a manner that facilitates their growth, engagement, and enhances their EDUCAUSE experience.
As a frontline user of EDUCAUSE systems and data services, complies with data quality standards; adheres to data governance policies, procedures, and processes for ensuring data integrity. May act as the application or data collection lead for the department.
Participate in EDUCAUSE events and activities as needed. Travel may be required to support EDUCAUSE conferences/events, research team operations, and external events relevant to the position.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Web/UX Design, Computer Science, other related degrees.
Minimum of five years’ experience in UX/UI design, web development, or a related role.
Proven Experience conducting UX research, usability testing, and data analysis to inform design decisions
Proven experience in UI/UX requirements gathering, development, and documentation
Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript and front-end technologies frameworks
Experience with wireframing, prototyping, and user journey diagrams development
Knowledge in web and mobile device accessibility guidelines (ADA compliance, Section 508, WCAG 2.2)
Proficiency in CMS (Content Management System) environments
Expert-level knowledge of current UI/UX practices, frameworks, tools, and paradigms, for web, tablet, and mobile settings.
Preferred
Experience with Sitecore
Experience with supporting Higher Ed
Knowledge and experience in agile development
Experience of using adaptive technologies for testing

Advanced ability to capture, articulate and document expected service capabilities and technical requirements
Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Physical demands of travel such as sitting for long periods, handling luggage, time zone changes, and adjusting to new environments.
Remote Work Requirements
Scheduled working hours either in the employees time zone or EDUCAUSE core working hours or core working hours to be determined with the supervisor.
Be available and responsive during scheduled work hours.
Any time off or change in working hours must be pre-arranged according to department guidelines and consistent with the rules applicable to employment (e.g., vacation, sick, personal, leave of absence).
Travel Requirements:
Travel for this position is minimal, typically 15 or fewer business days per year
