The Marketing and Communications Coordinator is an independent contract position; the contractor is responsible for all tax obligations. The term of this contract is one year, renewable upon mutual agreement.

The International Association of Public Participation (IAP2 USA) is currently looking for an engaged individual to strengthen our membership and chapter programs.
IAP2 USA is a nationwide organization that leads, advances and advocates for best practices in public participation. It is a home and community for people who believe good decisions can be made together.
We provide members with tools and techniques via conferences, trainings, professional certification, research, mentorship and access to a community of more than 2,500 members across 48 states to support establishment of good practices so that quality participation can occur.
Our ideal candidate is a reliable, customer -focused, well-organized professional with great attention to detail. We are seeking a self-starter with a strong work ethic, extensive communication skills, and an ability to work under minimal supervision.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
The Contractor, as Marketing and Communications Coordinator, will provide comprehensive oversight and management of all marketing and communications for IAP2 USA. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following areas:
Communications Strategy & Planning
Develop, oversee, and execute a comprehensive communications strategy to enhance engagement and visibility.
Maintain a dynamic communications calendar to ensure timely and effective messaging across all platforms.
Marketing & Content Development
Create, manage, and distribute compelling marketing materials, including monthly newsletters, e-blasts, and promotional content.
Curate engaging and relevant content for various marketing channels to drive awareness and engagement.
Develop targeted marketing strategies to support membership growth, training programs, and general IAP2 initiatives.
Social Media & Digital Presence
Manage and update IAP2 USA’s social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn) to enhance community engagement and brand awareness.
Monitor trends and analytics to optimize social media performance and outreach.
Website Management
Ensure the IAP2 USA website remains up to date, relevant, and user-friendly.
Create, edit, and upload new content to enhance the website’s value for members and stakeholders.
Conduct regular website maintenance, ensuring easy navigation and accessibility of key information.
Chapter Support
Provide training and technical support to chapters regarding marketing and website management.
Assist chapters in aligning their communication strategies with IAP2 USA’s branding and messaging.
Special Projects & Organizational Support
Lead and manage special projects in collaboration with the Executive Director.
Provide cross-functional support to other contracted staff as needed.
Develop, update, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Procedure Manuals in coordination with relevant stakeholders.
Additional Responsibilities
Provide Conference planning support as needed.
Undertake other duties as assigned by the Executive Director, in alignment with organizational goals and priorities.
Required Qualifications
Associates degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
Proven experience developing and executing comprehensive marketing and communications strategies.
Strong writing, editing, and content creation skills, with the ability to craft compelling messages for diverse audiences.
Experience managing social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn) and using analytics tools to track engagement and performance.
Proficiency in email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp, Constant Contact) and website content management systems (e.g., WordPress, Squarespace).
Basic graphic design skills and familiarity with design tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar platforms.
Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with staff, members, and external partners.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently.
Flexibility, dependability, integrity, and a strong work ethic.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with membership-based organizations or associations or nonprofit organization.
Familiarity with marketing automation tools, CRM systems, or database management.
Knowledge of SEO best practices and digital advertising strategies.
Experience supporting event or conference marketing.
Contractor Requirements
Must have access to a reliable computer and internet connection, as this is a home-based virtual work setting.
Ability to work remotely with flexible hours and work across time zones, accommodating occasional meetings and deadlines.
Proficient in Zoom, Google Workspace and familiarity with databases, CRM platforms, and Association Management Systems.
