The American Dental Education Association (ADEA) is seeking a talented Director of Leadership Programs to add to its team.
The Director, Leadership Programs oversees the development, implementation, and maintenance of leadership programs in the Office of Learning (OL). This position is also responsible for the measurement of the impact of the association’s leadership strategy. The Director, Leadership Programs, will collaborate with ADEA staff and ADEA members to deliver effective programs that support diverse professions and will work to expand the existing programs into a global format. Additionally, they will assist with leadership programs that are overseen in other ADEA departments to ensure that the website, the “ADEA Leadership Hub”, displays all the ADEA leadership programs available to ADEA members. The incumbent will support the Leadership Institute Alumni Board and other alumni groups developing from these programs. This role will also serve as the liaison for the ADEA Academic Dental Careers Fellowship Program (ADCFP), providing faculty with tools to mentor learners in allied dental, dental and advanced dental education programs, and to encourage the development of academic careers.
Primary Responsibilities
Collaborates with content experts in supporting and/or developing the educational programs for OL leadership meetings. This includes the ADEA Leadership Institute, Emerging Leaders, the Academic Dental Careers Fellowship Program, and the ADEA Council of Deans Fellowship. Maintain the “Leadership Hub” on the ADEA website.
Develops and implement global leadership platforms and educational materials to appeal to those working in oral health and oral health education in countries other than the US and Canada.
Manages the budgets for ADEA’s leadership programs and ensures that the programs meet attendance, revenue, and expense goals.
Serves as the liaison to, and contributes to, the educational content for the Academic Dental Careers Fellowship Program (ADCFP) and maintains all documents in the ADEA OL shared drive.
Works closely with the VP eLearn and other OL staff in the development of a CE transcript service at ADEA.
Supervises staff as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Chief Learning Officer.
Annual Goals:
Manages the relationship with external vendors for leadership program development (currently AAL).
Coordinates, produces and distributes leadership program certificates of completion.
Develop a global approach to existing and new ADEA leadership programs.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in education, business, information management, administration, communications, marketing, languages or related field.
Strategic thinker, with 8 years of experience in professional education design/delivery. Six years of experience plus a graduate degree may be substituted.
A background in languages to support a global learning and educational platform is helpful.
An interest in, and ability to learn, innovative technologies as needed.
Experience with volunteer member committees preferred, along with ability to act as ambassador for ADEA with its members and member leadership.
Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to prioritize strategically as necessary.
Capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously and working across divisions within ADEA.
Excellent written, presentation and verbal communication skills.
Expertise with Microsoft Office Suite (including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), pdf technology, and videoconference/meeting software such as Zoom/Teams.
Strong project and program management capabilities and experience.
An established record of effectively planning and managing education programs/events.
Ability to project future needs, and plan and manage a budget for each functional area.
An established record of providing leadership and effectively managing staff.
Ability to work successfully in a diverse team environment and collaborate effectively with others.
Ability to work a hybrid work schedule. The current schedule is 3 days (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) in the DC office and 2 days work from home (Monday and Friday). Must have the flexibility to work at ADEA’s DC office as needed to facilitate member programming on site as requested.
Ability to travel to external member meetings to support ADEA as needed, including some weekends.
The salary range for this position is $97k to $108k.
