The Head of Member Engagement is a key leadership role responsible for managing, developing, and executing strategies to recruit and retain members, strengthening member relations, driving sponsorship development and fulfillment, and working with committees that support the association’s mission. This role is also critical in overseeing and managing the planning and execution of member-focused events that enhance engagement and provide value to stakeholders. The ideal candidate will be a strategic and relationship-driven professional who can cultivate partnerships, expand member involvement, and lead initiatives that grow the association’s influence and impact. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Head of Member Engagement will work closely with internal teams, the member community and event partners to create meaningful first-in-class events. Although the association is remote, this position requires you to work in the office at least four times a month and support key initiatives' timing in the office as needed.
Member Engagement & Relations:
Oversee the development and execution of membership recruitment and retention strategies to ensure alignment with the association’s goals.
Establish and maintain strong relationships with members to drive engagement and satisfaction, proactively addressing concerns and opportunities for growth.
Direct initiatives that enhance the member experience, such as networking programs, mentorship opportunities, and exclusive member benefits.
Oversee regular membership assessments and surveys to inform data-driven decision-making and enhance and expand member benefits.
Provide leadership and guidance to staff responsible for member relations, ensuring consistent and high-quality communication with members.
Sponsorship Development & Sales:
Lead the identification and cultivation of sponsorship opportunities to support the association’s financial sustainability and strategic initiatives.
Develop and oversee the execution of sponsorship sales strategies, ensuring effective outreach to potential sponsors and strong retention of existing partners.
Ensure fulfillment of all sponsorship commitments, maintaining high-quality service and engagement with sponsors.
Drive the development and execution of event sponsorship packages, securing partnerships that enhance event offerings and association revenue.
Committee Management:
Provide strategic oversight and management of committees supporting member engagement, sponsorship, and events.
Ensure committees operate effectively, aligning their work with the association’s mission and goals.
Serve as the key liaison between committee leadership and executive leadership, ensuring seamless communication and strategic alignment.
Develop and implement engagement strategies to recruit and support volunteer leaders for committee participation.
Event Planning & Execution:
Oversee the planning, execution, and evaluation of member engagement events, including conferences, networking events, webinars, and industry gatherings.
Lead collaboration with internal teams and external vendors to ensure high-quality event logistics, programming, and attendee experiences.
Evaluate event performance, utilizing data-driven insights to optimize future planning and engagement strategies.
Data & Reporting:
Oversee the management and accuracy of membership and sponsorship records in the association’s database.
Establish and track key performance metrics related to member engagement, retention, sponsorship revenue, and event participation.
Provide strategic reports and insights to executive leadership to inform decision-making and drive continuous improvement in member engagement efforts.
