The Member Services & Programs Communications Manager will work with the Executive Vice President of Member Services & Programs to effectively communicate the benefits of AAF membership and involvement. With a heavy emphasis on membership, national grassroots programs, and member engagement opportunities, the role will be responsible for day-to-day member program and event awareness and promotion through various media channels and member-facing outlets. The role will work closely with each Member Services team member to ensure timely and effective communications for all activities thus sharing responsibility in overall program and event success.
Essential Responsibilities:
Program & Event Communications
Newsletter and Social Media Content and Promotions
Coordinate and source all content for the AAF National newsletter, Unifying Voice, each month. Content should represent all AAF National material as well as member and chapter spotlights.
Coordinate distribution of monthly newsletters to all AAF stakeholders.
Build annual Social Media content calendar for all Member Services programs and events. Responsible for copy and overall schedule. Coordinate timing with Creative Services.
Procure any relevant information for AAF SmartBrief.
Member-Facing PR – Distribution to AAF Local Chapters, Districts and Regions for their use
Create press releases for use by AAF local chapters, districts and regions as they relate to Member Services programs, training, events, etc.
Work with AAF PR representative to provide quotes and relevant information for national releases and wire placement as they relate to Member Services programs and events.
Member Services Event PR package coordination and distribution for use at local, district and regional tiers of membership.
Website and Resource Center Management
Responsible for continual updating of current Resource Center documentation and creation of new resources for the online repository.
Responsible for keeping all Member Services-related information on the AAF website current.
Event Promotion & Communications
Work with EVP of Member Services to create marketing strategies, promotional materials, and communications for annual programs and events.
Work with EVP to craft annual scripts used in conjunction with National Student Advertising Competition and ADMERICA.
Member Services Team Communications and Project Participation
External Communications & Relationship Management
Spearhead Affinity Partner communications, updates and ongoing relationship building.
Develop communication materials to secure current program funding and develop new partnerships.
Assist EVP in developing messaging for retention and recruitment plans.
Internal Support
Assist team with information structure in presentation decks as needed.
Create annual Talking Points for staff members as they relate to Member Services Program and Events activity.
Work in conjunction with EVP to develop commentary for inclusion in AAF Annual Report for Member Services.
Create Standard Operating Procedures for Member Services processes. Update on an annual basis as needed.
Respond promptly to inquiries and information requests from staff and grassroots network.
Serve as additional support with program and event execution as requested by EVP.
Qualifications and Requirements
Experience: Minimum 3+ years of professional experience; with relevant experience in program and event communications. Advertising industry and fundraising experience is a plus but not mandatory.
Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
Leadership: Confident, action-oriented, and passionate about impeccable customer service and effective communication.
Technical: Proficiency in MS Office Suite, various writing styles including AP Style, and database software.
Organizational: Strong multitasking, efficient prioritization, attention to detail, and adherence to deadlines.
Communication: Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
Professionalism: High maturity, sound judgment, and proactive initiative.
