The Program Manager, Membership and Marketing, plays a critical role in developing and executing strategic initiatives that drive membership growth, retention, and engagement across all 54 states, territories, and the District of Columbia. This individual supports cross-departmental efforts to elevate the NGAUS brand, promote key programs and events—such as the Annual General Conference—and ensure clear, consistent communications across all platforms. The role combines strategic planning, project management, and creative execution, supporting both national efforts and state-level outreach.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Membership Strategy & Engagement
Collaborate on and implement a comprehensive annual membership plan focused on recruitment, engagement, and retention.
Supporting the Database Manager with membership support and coordination across 54 states and territories.
Work directly with state executives, membership POCs, and association leadership to strengthen local membership efforts.
Curate member resources, develop onboarding tools, and coordinate national and regional outreach campaigns.
Marketing & Communications
Lead the planning and execution of strategic marketing initiatives to support membership, programs, events, and advocacy.
Create, manage, and deliver marketing projects from concept to completion —establishing timelines, assigning roles, and coordinating deliverables (print, digital, and video).
Support marketing for the NGAUS General Conference, establishing a cohesive brand identity and campaign across channels.
Maintain and update the association website and work with the communications department to keep all content current and relevant.
Develop and distribute email marketing campaigns and digital communications across platforms, ensuring message consistency and brand alignment.
Provide graphic design services as needed and manage the production of promotional materials.
Partner with staff and state associations to create customized marketing toolkits and outreach templates.
Serve as video editor and support content production for events, education, and promotions.
Assist in with management of content for the General Conference mobile app.
Multimedia Content
Collaborate with communications, events, and program teams to identify content opportunities and align messaging.
Organizational Collaboration & Innovation
Work cross-departmentally to support integrated campaigns and communication initiatives across all programs.
Collaborate with the Innovation Working Group to generate new ideas and improve membership and marketing practices.
Assist in handling member inquiries, ensuring timely and professional responses.
Stay current on marketing, membership, and communication trends through training, webinars, and conferences.
Additional Duties
Facilitate internal and external administrative membership-related requests.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Competencies:
Required:
Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) in Marketing, Communications, Business, or related field.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in membership management, marketing, or related areas; association or military environment experience preferred.
Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Familiarity with association management systems (AMS), email marketing platforms, and CMS tools.
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to travel to support national events and conferences.
Preferred:
Experience supporting a federated or chapter-based membership structure.
Understanding of the National Guard or military-affiliated community.
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, After Effects) or equivalent design/video tools.
Experience with video production and editing for social and event platforms.

Physical Demands:
Must be able to sit, stand, walk, use hands, and communicate effectively.
Occasionally required to lift and move up to 25 pounds.
Vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
