The Society for American Archaeology is the preeminent organization for the study of archaeology of the Americas. We are looking for a dedicated individual to join our team to provide excellent customer service to members and customers, enhance and expand the relationship of members who join to present, and create more ways for the organization to deliver value to our members.

Position objectives

• Provides quality customer service and develops effective customer service strategies for member and non-member customer bases
• Collaborates with Deputy Executive Director in managing the membership database and outputs
• Responsible for specific meeting logistics, aspects of the preliminary and final programs, and development of non-session room calendar at the annual meeting
• Supports interest groups to engage their members
• Ensuring meeting presenters join and assist in educating these newly joined members about how to maximize their investment
• Increases volunteerism at the organization

Required background

• BA / BS (archaeology or anthropology preferred)
• 2-3 years office experience, working with members by helping them on the phone and email
• Ability to complete tasks independently and reliably
• Superlative communication skills
• Detail orientation and experience with Association Management Software (iMIS a plus)
• Fluent English speaker and writer, bonus points for Spanish
