Position Summary:
The Community Program Director, Teaching and Learning leads the on-going development of initiatives and programming in their assigned focus area, represents the teaching and learning community in EDUCAUSE services and products, and provides thought leadership in their field. This position collaborates extensively with EDUCAUSE colleagues and members to accomplish these responsibilities.

None at this time. May supervise staff if overseeing grant work. May supervise contractors or consultants.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Program Leadership
Lead the EDUCAUSE Teaching and Learning Program, including providing direction for the strategic development and delivery of ongoing program components including:
identifying new trends and developments that factor into the community program events, research, services and products;
keeping program content up to date and relevant to support the higher education community's present challenges while preparing it for the future;
in collaboration with the research team and others, conducting periodic major program evaluations;
identifying and guiding programmatic innovations;
integrating topics relevant to the teaching and learning community into EDUCAUSE events, professional development, research, and publications;
Contributes to thought leadership by writing reports and articles, presenting, leading expert panels, providing media interviews, and serving as a teaching and learning subject matter expert.
Maintains and collaborates with a highly transparent and inclusive community governance structure, such as advisory committee(s), to gather input and set priorities and strategic directions for the program while ensuring EDUCAUSE retains a sufficient and appropriate voice in the ongoing evolution of the program.
Works closely with the EDUCAUSE policy team on focus area issues requiring a policy response, which includes representing EDUCAUSE in such matters as needed.
Program Operations
In collaboration with the Senior Director, Community Programs, develops and maintains existing initiatives and products related to program focus topics.
Establishes program service quality and improvement processes and goals.
Monitors community program KPIs that support the healthy evolution of the program. Oversees program quality and improvement activities.
Executes strategies and tactics to increase community engagement within this community program.
Suggests and evaluates recommendations to enhance existing programs and services.
Identifies opportunities and needs for new products and services; develops business case and product/service plan.
Identifies and secures resources for program development and manages the phased development and implementation of the program to deliver it within resource constraints and timeline commitments.
In partnership with internal teams, guides marketing messaging and promotes the value of the program both internally and externally.
Event Development and Management
Directs the delivery of Teaching and Learning programming via online channels, at the annual EDUCAUSE conference, and elsewhere as determined by the program’s governance and resources.
Leads planning for the content, and in collaboration with the event management staff, advises on the delivery of the Teaching and Learning Symposium and other teaching and learning events. Serves as a teaching and learning subject matter expert for the event.
Leads event program committees.
Collaborating with event program committee co-chairs, serves as staff lead for the call for proposal process as appropriate. Reviews proposals and participates in the selection process.
Moderates or participates in webinars in areas of subject matter expertise.
Coordinates and develops presentations for the EDUCAUSE annual conference and other external conferences.
Communities and Relationships
Support the professional development of others in their work to advance the mission and vision of EDUCAUSE. Act as a departmental liaison with employees, members, volunteers, volunteer groups, and partners.
Extend the reach and reputation of the focus program by cultivating relationships with key leaders in the academic communities. Develop and maintain collaborative and collegial working relationships with leaders of relevant associations, consortia, and organizations.
Develop and maintain a vibrant community of volunteers.
Represent EDUCAUSE as the contact point for external partnerships for key Teaching and Learning initiatives.
Promotes, grows, and extends the value of the program by collaborating with other EDUCAUSE units to identify and exploit value-added intersections with other EDUCAUSE activities.
Financial Management
Monitor budgeted program expenditures and ensure that programs operate within the approved budget.
Identify and evaluate the budgetary risks associated with program activities and take appropriate action to control the risks.
Act as a good steward of EDUCAUSE financial and other resources.
Work to identify, develop, and achieve annual revenue targets.
Association Service and Support
Represent EDUCAUSE in a professional manner at all times; engage with co-workers, volunteers, and members in a civil, caring, respectful way.
Support the professional development of others in their work to advance the mission and vision of EDUCAUSE.
Promote the value of topics important to the teaching and learning communities within EDUCAUSE as well as externally.
Participate in EDUCAUSE events and activities as needed.
Support members in a manner that facilitates their growth, engagement, and enhances their EDUCAUSE experience.
As a frontline user of EDUCAUSE systems and data services, complies with data quality standards and adheres to data governance policies, procedures, and processes for ensuring data integrity. May act as the application or data collection lead for the department in relevant areas.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience
At least five years of experience leading services and programs in the higher education teaching and learning, educational technology, or closely related sector required.
At least seven years’ experience of increasing responsibility leading in an area related to their program focus and programs culminating in a senior leadership role.
Leadership in the profession: Demonstrated ability to develop and sustain collaborative working relationships with IT, teaching and learning, and other higher education leaders and technologists. Ability to develop and sustain significant professional credibility in higher ed through a record of accomplishments and activities.
2-5 years’ experience working with organizational or board leadership regarding teaching and learning.
A graduate degree is preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
A deep knowledge of current and emerging issues in teaching and learning.
Passion for the field and a keen interest in staying on top of current research and practices.
Innovative and entrepreneurial, and wanting to steer the Program in new directions to prepare the field for emerging challenges and to strengthen EDUCAUSE’s contributions in these areas.
Active membership in teaching and learning or related professional associations; for example, serving on at least one committee in the two years
Demonstrated contributions, or strong interest in contributing, to thought leadership in the field through publications, conference presentations and speaking engagements, including at least one presentation or publication in the past two years.
Excellent organizational and prioritization skills and can successfully prioritize competing projects and initiatives.
Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Physical demands of travel such as sitting for long periods, handling luggage, time zone changes, and adjusting to new environments.
Remote Work Requirements
Core working hours are 8 am - 5 pm Monday-Thursday and 8 am - noon Friday in the employee's time zone.
Be available and responsive during scheduled work hours.
Any time off or change in working hours must be pre-arranged according to department guidelines and consistent with the rules applicable to employment (e.g., vacation, sick, personal, leave of absence).
Travel Requirements:
15-25% of time for internal work meetings, representing EDUCAUSE externally, and speaking engagements, varies depending on the time of year, work priorities, and budget.
