Position Title: Director of Membership
Classification: Full-time, Exempt, Salaried
Location: Virtual
Reports to: Executive Director
Supervises: 2-3 team members
The Director of Membership will be responsible for driving membership growth and engagement through strategic initiatives. This role encompasses the planning and execution of member meetings, training programs, and resource development. Additionally, the Director of Membership will oversee all association communications and engagement activities to ensure a high level of member satisfaction and retention. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with various departments to align membership efforts with the association's overall mission and goals. The Director will be part of the NAPHSIS leadership team and will have input on the overall strategy of the association.
Key Responsibilities
Membership Growth and Retention
Develop and implement strategies to recruit and retain members, including targeted outreach, benefit optimization, and retention campaigns.
Analyze membership trends and identify new opportunities to expand the organization’s reach and impact.
Engage lapsed members and develop innovative approaches to reconnect with past members and sustain engagement.
Training and Meetings
Design and implement programs, events, and resources that enhance member satisfaction and provide value to members at different career stages.
Serve as the primary point of contact for member inquiries, providing exceptional service and ensuring member needs are addressed in a timely manner.
Identify and secure revenue streams to provide financial support for meetings.
Marketing and Communication
Create targeted membership marketing materials, including newsletters, social media content, and email campaigns.
Maintain and enhance the content of the organization’s website (both public facing and member sites), ensuring it is current, informative, and user-friendly.
Oversee member communications and outreach, ensuring alignment with the organization’s brand and voice.
Strategic Leadership and Collaboration
Act as an advocate for members within the organization, representing their needs and perspectives in leadership discussions and strategic planning.
Develop and manage the membership budget, ensuring resources are allocated effectively to achieve maximum member benefit.
Team Management
Lead and mentor a team responsible for membership services, engagement, and support.
Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture focused on continuous improvement and professional growth.
Oversee training and development for team members, ensuring high standards of service and support.

Staff in this position should be prepared to:
Participate on camera in video meetings.
Lift moderately heavy objects like physical equipment or meeting materials weighing up to 40 pounds.
Perform occasional evening or weekend work.
Travel within the U.S. occasionally (at least 4 times per year) which may include traveling by car, airline, and/or public transportation to destinations in the United States.

Requirements:
A bachelor’s degree or the equivalent experience is required
Minimum of 8 years of experience in member management, strategic planning and/or association governance
Proven leadership and team management skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong service orientation, and an understanding of the importance of developing effective working relationships with users.
Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, Adobe, QuickBooks, Bill.com, and Association Management Software.
Ability to pass a background and reference check is required
