The Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) is an organization of more than 10,000 public and private sector professionals committed to advancing from solid waste management to resource management through their shared emphasis on education, advocacy and research. SWANA serves industry professionals through technical conferences, certifications, publications and a large offering of technical training courses. Role Overview:
We are seeking an energetic, detail-oriented individual to support our Membership team and overall SWANA operational needs. A customer-focused, collaborative approach is essential in this front-line role.
Responsibilities:
Support day-to-day activities of the membership team to communicate with, retain, and grow the association’s membership.
Provide ad-hoc support of general SWANA operations, which may include scheduling meetings, event coordination, supporting special projects, marketing/office management support, etc.
Track and report organization metrics as assigned.
Document processes for the organization and train others as needed.
Answer incoming inquiries via phone and email in accordance with established turnaround times.
Provide appropriate guidance and solutions to members and escalate more complex or technical inquiries to appropriate team members as needed.
Update and maintain records in the membership database, including new applications, terminations, suspensions, and any changes in membership information.
Continually monitor the integrity of data within the system to ensure minimal errors.
Distribute incoming mail and packages on a daily basis.
Other duties as assigned.

Minimum of 3 years in a professional environment, with a preference for experience in an association or non-profit.
Customer service experience required.
Self-motivated and able to meet job expectations without oversight.
Familiarity with association membership databases, such as Impexium, preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
Top-notch problem solving and collaboration skills.
Able to maintain positive interpersonal relationships with staff, members, customers, and partners.
Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
