Executive Director Search
Just Horizons Alliance (JHA) seeks a dynamic and collaborative leader with nonprofit management experience who will drive our mission forward. This is an invitation to be at the forefront of an uncommon organization with a visionary calling to serve the common good.
Who We Are
Located in the heart of Boston’s vibrant Kenmore Square, Just Horizons Alliance (JHA) is a forward-thinking nonprofit designed to address unprecedented challenges associated with a rapidly changing world. JHA’s distinctive approach integrates rigorous scientific research aided by computational modeling with deep wisdom informed by prosocial ethics, inclusive virtues, and expansive spirituality. Our small, agile, and creative team works within an infrastructure that sustains JHA’s four major operating divisions:
Advanced Data Science and Computational Modeling
Ethics for AI and Emerging Technologies
Thought-Leader Network
Independent Publishing House
JHA supports positive change by articulating adaptive responses that are both research-informed and ethically-guided. Specifically, JHA’s data science division conducts independent academic research that demonstrates how human-in-the-loop ethical computing can help solve intractable social problems; our networking branch promotes connection and conversation among change makers; our book-publishing branch amplifies the voices of spiritual outliers; and our digital ethics branch educates and builds accountability around new and emerging technologies. We call JHA a "strategic change engine" because our work equips change makers—ranging from tech engineers and policymakers to authors, activists, and educators—with actionable insights, tools, and strategies they need to succeed.
The Opportunity
This full-time, Boston-based position is ideal for an inspirational leader experienced in nonprofit fundraising, personnel, and financial management. The Executive Director will work collaboratively with a strong Executive Team, talented staff, and committed Board of Directors to oversee the day-to-day management and strategic execution of JHA’s operations and initiatives.
Qualifications
Interest and general fluency in JHA's core divisions—science, ethics, collaborative networking, and publishing—is important, though advanced expertise in all areas is not required. As humanity faces an increasingly complex future, individuals who can navigate and integrate multiple approaches are essential to the adaptive stance that JHA promotes and embodies. We are seeking an Executive Director who is passionately aligned with our mission to support positive change by articulating adaptive responses that are both research-informed and ethically-guided.
