Position Summary: We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Operations Assistant to join our team. This position will play a key role in supporting various administrative functions across the organization. The ideal candidate will be someone who enjoys working with data, communicating with members, and solving problems with a "can-do" attitude. Key Responsibilities:
Member Engagement & Support: Regularly engage with members to resolve issues related to the member portal, database updates, membership directory, and compile member engagement data and summaries.
Data Entry & Database Maintenance: Assist in the management of various databases, including the association's Contact Management System (AMS), communications platform (Higher Logic), and website (WordPress). Perform data entry and updates to ensure accuracy and consistency.
Customer Service for Hydro Academy: Provide support to Hydro Academy enrollees, answering inquiries, assisting with registration, and providing assistance in class setup in both the AMS and Learning Management System (LMS).
Event Content Development Support/Assistance: Assist in the creation and development of content for association events, supporting senior members of the NHA team. Assist in writing session descriptions (or use tools like ChatGPT to generate descriptions), help in recruiting speakers, and input event details into Cadmium. Solicit and manage event-related speaker photos and biographies.
General Administrative Support: Assist with additional administrative tasks as assigned. Be flexible in supporting various departments and initiatives as needed.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Business Administration, or a related field.
Experience: 2-3 years of experience in administrative or support roles, preferably within a membership organization, trade association, or similar setting.
Skills & Abilities:
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Excellent attention to detail and high-quality standards
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Experience with WordPress, AMS, and data management software (e.g., Salesforce)
Graphic Design: Proficiency in design tools like PowerPoint, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar platforms.
Ability to create graphs, tables, and other data visualizations
Ability to troubleshoot issues and solve problems independently with a "can-do" attitude
Basic understanding of the industry (hydropower, utilities, etc.) or willingness to learn quickly

Self-motivated, proactive, and quick to adapt to new systems and technologies
Highly organized, with a commitment to meeting deadlines and maintaining accuracy

Work Environment Position is based in Washington, DC. The role requires professionalism, adaptability, and discretion in handling sensitive information.
