ABOUT THE DIRECTOR OF MEMBERSHIP & MARKETING
The Director of Membership & Marketing will play a key role in achieving the strategic initiatives (see “About MedChi”) by working alongside a team of dedicated individuals focused on membership recruitment, membership retainment, field engagement, marketing and communications, strategic development, database management, and dues billing and processing. This position currently reports to the CEO.
The ideal candidate is an outgoing, dynamic individual who thrives in social settings, is confident with public speaking, and excels at building relationships. A strong interest or background in health policy is highly desirable, and experience in association management is a definite advantage. The ability to effectively recruit new members and foster long-term retention through meaningful engagement is essential. Candidates with a proven ability to learn quickly and adapt to new challenges are also encouraged to apply.
This position is based in Baltimore or Annapolis and requires regular in-person work at the office, as well as fieldwork to visit current and potential members. It also involves attending events throughout the state of Maryland. Please note that this role does not include a work-from-home component currently.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The responsibilities of the Director of Membership & Marketing include, but are not limited to:
· Supervise approximately 3-5 staff, to include MedChi’s, communications, and business development staff
· Develop and implement membership recruitment and retainment programs based on relational sales, data analytics, marketing expertise, and an ability to clearly define and demonstrate MedChi’s value premise
· Oversee the efficient and accurate deployment of MedChi’s annual dues billing and prospect mailing processes, while also evaluating and implementing innovative strategies or improvements that better align with the company’s goals and enhance overall effectiveness
· Manage MedChi’s membership database with the support of 1-2 staff
· Review and possibly manage the selection and deployment of a new association management software system
· Collaborate with county medical societies on regional-focused membership initiatives
· Attend events, sometimes in the evening and on weekends, as a representative of MedChi
· Collaborate closely with physician members to understand their needs, provide support, and foster strong relationships that contribute to their engagement and satisfaction within the organization
· Manage and Support MedChi’s Membership Committee by planning and facilitating virtual meetings, taking minutes, and collaborating with the committee to develop and implement strategies for member engagement, retention, and overall membership success.
