POSITION OVERVIEW: The Project Manager will work closely with various levels of leadership and staff to manage project efforts in alignment with industry best practices. Acting as the primary point of contact, the Project Manager will facilitate communication and coordination of project goals, deliverables, and schedules. Strong communication and organization skills are essential. The Project Manager will also be responsible for producing detailed documentation at each stage of the project, often creating these materials with input from team members.
Salary Range: $60,000–$70,000
The Project Manager will be responsible for:
Project Management
Analyzing and defining the scope and scheduling of NASPA projects to support ongoing initiatives for stakeholders.
Outlining risks and assumptions for all phases of assigned projects.
Assembling project plans and team assignments, ensuring projects are delivered on time.
Creating and maintaining project plans focused on informing and educating members and stakeholders.
Coordinating all resources required for and involved in assigned projects.
Monitoring the progress of projects throughout the complete development/implementation cycle.
Creating and updating project/resource reports for review and dissemination, emphasizing impact and results.
Proactive management of internal and external customer expectations to ensure content meets the needs of stakeholders.
Tracking and documenting all project tasks and providing weekly updates on project progress to the team.
Taking ownership and responsibility for all aspects (e.g., deadlines, quality, meeting original requirements) of work by all project resources involved in assigned initiatives.
Quality Assurance
Ensuring the result of project management tasks and all project deliverables meet requirements before being released to stakeholders.
Ensuring all work meets the guidelines and standards defined for the team and NASPA.
Identifying and resolving errors in project management work.
Proactively identifying and resolving potential problems or errors in outputs or processes that may lead to dissatisfaction among stakeholders.
Communication
Serving as the main point of contact for internal or external stakeholders regarding all aspects of assigned projects.
Ensuring internal and external stakeholders are kept informed of progress in a timely manner and managing their expectations effectively.
Ensuring appropriate commitment is agreed upon and maintained to meet project objectives by all resources (internal and external) and escalating as appropriate.
Ensuring team members are aware of the project goals and objectives, what is expected of them, and expected completion dates for tasks assigned.
Producing well-written documents and leading workgroup meetings (as required).
Communicating project outcomes to the Manager for broader dissemination to the membership.
Support
Assisting team members with the resolution of work problems related to assigned projects.
Providing timely assistance and advice to internal and external stakeholders on project issues.
Work Organization
Estimating the effort and project management resources required for work assigned to projects.
Prioritizing tasks effectively to achieve delivery deadlines for all project initiatives.
Individual Development
Identifying personal development requirements related to project management.
Participating in the performance review process.
Operating effectively within the team and NASPA.
Promoting and maintaining professional standards in project management.
Technical Knowledge
Demonstrating a high level of technical competence within the scope of project management, self-sufficiency, and willingness to acquire new and additional skills.
Maintaining an awareness of current project management tools, their capabilities, and limitations. Experience with ClickUp or similar project management tools is essential.
Maintaining an awareness of NASPA organization, staff, and issues relevant to NASPA.
Maintaining an awareness of industry and wider national developments that impact initiatives.
Qualifications
3- 5 years of project management experience.
Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred. Demonstrated years of experience in project management may be accepted in lieu of education requirements.
Must possess broad knowledge and practice in project management methodologies and project management tools. Experience with resource management and project reporting best practices.
Experience managing multiple projects at the same time.
Ability to prioritize and manage workload and work independently (the role has no supervisory authority).
