This is a full-time position, and salary will be commensurate with experience. The American Meteorological Society (AMS) is seeking a Marketing Communications Coordinator who will support our mission of advancing weather, water, and climate science. As part of a small Marketing and Design team, you will play a vital role in maintaining and expanding the AMS’s marketing and communications efforts. The position is responsible for creating and selecting engaging copy and visuals for a variety of digital channels matching the AMS voice and brand. In this role you will also build and maintain templates and target groups in the digital marketing platform and create and schedule mailings and campaigns for all AMS departments.
The Marketing Communications Coordinator will report to the Acting Director of Operations and Project Management and will work closely on a day-to-day basis with managers, directors, executives, and volunteers.
Responsibilities:
Create and select copy and images for emails, website, newsletters, and social media
Build and maintain templates and target groups in mailing system
Create and schedule mailings for all AMS departments as needed and/or support staff using the digital marketing platform
Oversee design and maintenance for automated marketing campaigns
Collaborate on marketing/communications strategy for AMS programs
Use Canva for simple design tasks (such as social media posts, ads, and marketing materials)
Perform routine content updates to the AMS website, including edits to text and imagery, using a content management system (Mura)
Skills and Qualifications:
1-3 years of relevant professional-level experience in marketing and/or communications
Exceptional written, verbal, and organizational skills
Ability to think creatively and innovatively
Quick learner who can swiftly adapt to new technologies
Attention to detail in editing and proofreading
Experience with content management systems (such as Mura)
Experience with Informz / Higher Logic or other digital marketing platforms
Experience with social media platforms a plus
Interest or background in the sciences a plus
Familiarity with design tools (such as Canva and Adobe Creative Cloud) a plus
