The Company: The New River Valley Home Builders Association, Inc. (NRVHBA) is a professional trade association affiliated with the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and the Home Builders Association of Virginia (HBAV) and is dedicated to being the respected voice of the residential & commercial building industry in southwest Virginia. Our Association is governed by a board of directors and an executive committee representative of our region’s builder and associate membership.
The mission of the NRVHBA is to serve the building community by advocating for the construction industry; educating, supporting, and promoting our members; and giving back to the New River Valley.
The Position: We are looking for a full-time Marketing and Events Coordinator to assist our Executive Officer with executing the strategic goals of the association and managing association events, member support, marketing, and communication. The ideal candidate will have event planning and marketing experience, the ability to communicate in clear, positive, and respectful manners with members, customers, and vendors daily, and is a self-starter who can work independently while managing the priorities of the Executive Officer and membership.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, event planning, or related field - preferred
Previous experience in event coordination or related field
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Marketing and Social Media Experience
Adobe InDesign and Photoshop – preferred
Canva knowledge - preferred
WordPress knowledge – preferred
Responsibilities:
Organize, plan, market, and execute various Association Events
Social media management, marketing, and member communication
Design and produce promotional materials for various initiatives
Assist in the develop and implementation of strategies to attract advertisers and sponsors for association events and publications
Website Management
Additional tasks as assigned by the Executive Officer
Marketing and Events Coordinator - Detailed tasks, duties and responsibilities
Event Management:
Supports the organization, planning, marketing, and execution of various association events including, but not limited to, the annual Home Expo, Touch-a-Truck, and member networking and education events ensuring all details are handled smoothly and efficiently
Act as staff liaison for various committees
Manage event budgets and track expenses to ensure cost-effectiveness
Create and distribute event marketing materials, such as invitations, flyers, and promotional emails
Oversee event registration process and handle attendee inquiries
Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to secure necessary equipment and services for events
Assist in the development of event timelines and schedules to ensure all tasks are completed on time
Provide on-site support during events, including setup, registration, and troubleshooting
Works in conjunction with the Executive Officer to develop creative ideas for new events, programs, and services for members
Advertising and Sponsorship Sales:
Assist in the develop and implementation of strategies to attract advertisers and sponsors for association events and publications
Create compelling sponsorship packages and advertising opportunities
Cultivate relationships with potential sponsors and advertisers
Negotiate and close advertising and sponsorship deals
Ensure proper execution of sponsor benefits and advertising placements
Track and report on advertising and sponsorship revenue
Marketing and communication:
Respond in a timely manner to any emails and phone calls, within 24-48 hours.
Plan, compose and execute communication (email, social media, newsletters, etc.) to the membership.
Create and maintain print and digital membership materials
Maintain the NRVHBA website, social media, etc. in a timely manner so that articles, posts, and pictures are relevant and useful.
Manage all event social media
Assist in creating and executing the annual NRVHBA magazine
