The Tennessee Academy of Family Physicians (TNAFP), a nonprofit membership organization serving approximately 2,400 family physicians, family medicine residents and medical students in Tennessee, is in search of a Communications and Program Specialist to join its staff in the Nashville area. The newly created position will report to the TNAFP Executive Director and help the Academy carry out its mission of supporting and advocating for Tennessee’s family physicians.
Specific Duties
Communications
Help develop and disseminate member-facing communications, including regular email updates, website updates, strategic social media content, campaigns to drive attendance and participation in association events, and writing content for the TNAFP quarterly print journal.
Work with staff to build and facilitate marketing communications campaigns for physician membership recruitment and retention.
Leverage PR/media relations efforts to help generate earned media exposure for the association.
Events
Work closely with colleagues to help plan, promote and coordinate the association’s annual conference, continuing medical education seminars, business meetings and other member events throughout year.
Provide on-site support at all Academy events with exceptional customer service.
TNAFP Foundation
Serve as primary staff person responsible for 501(c)3 Foundation programs designed to promote and grow family medicine in Tennessee, including annual student awards, student and resident scholarships, family medicine loan repayment program, and residency learning network.
Build relationships with Tennessee medical school and family medicine residency program contacts to raise awareness of the Foundation, including regular outreach and coordinating meetings and speaking engagements.
Support Executive Director in managing Foundation Board of Directors, including producing and delivering reports, scheduling meetings, etc.
Perform other administrative duties as assigned, including but not limited to serving as a staff liaison to member committees.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in relevant field of study, such as communications, marketing or business management (professional experience may be considered as substitute for education)
Relevant professional experience in communications, public relations, marketing, or association management (internship experience may be considered)
Experience/aptitude with Canva or other graphic design platforms
Healthcare experience/knowledge not required but preferred
Strong attention to detail and overall organization
Positive attitude to contribute to and thrive in a small team-based environment
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with a high level of customer service
Unwavering professionalism and ethics in every situation
Ability and willingness to travel periodically, as required (less than 10%)
