The Opportunity
NCTE seeks a Volunteer Engagement and Governance Coordinator to support all aspects of volunteer engagement through NCTE’s committees, elected positions, awards, member resolutions, and more. By connecting members with volunteer opportunities and ensuring seamless administrative execution of application and election processes, this role harnesses volunteer support and provides professional growth opportunities to NCTE’s members. This role reports to the Senior Liaison in the Executive Director’s Office and requires superior attention to detail, strong communication skills, a customer service orientation, and consummate professionalism. This is a full-time remote position.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Proactively curate and maintain NCTE volunteer opportunities (committees, award opportunities, working groups, scholarships, cohorts, nominations for NCTE elections, ongoing and new NCTE programs) in NCTE’s Member Engagement Hub. Ensure the Member Engagement Hub is an effective tool for members and staff.
Administer scholarships and awards from application through to dissemination, tracking opportunities throughout the year for internal coordination and external communication.
Coordinate the nominating process for elected positions including for NCTE, NCTE section, and NCTE constituent groups (CCCC, CEL, ELATE, LLA, and TYCA). This includes providing a wide range of support for the corresponding nominating committees.
Guide nominations through to the administration of elections, including preparing secure online ballots and election materials, gathering candidate materials for communications, overseeing set timelines for each election to be open, and monitoring and reporting on results throughout.
Provide ongoing and proactive administrative support to NCTE’s 16 general committees, ensuring scheduled activities and procedures are adhered to and new member volunteers participate.
Coordinate the NCTE resolutions process, working with the Committee on Resolutions leading up to and during the Annual Convention.
Compile and disseminate regular reporting on engagement responses for open opportunities as well as trends over time.
Collaborate on an ongoing basis with the affiliated groups, governance, and ED office teams to coordinate work and new projects effectively.
Perform other administrative tasks as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in education, English, liberal arts, or a related discipline
Experience working for a nonprofit, trade, or professional association governance as well as in the private sector is highly preferred; alternatively, experience in administrative support for a higher education institution
Prior experience handling confidential member information and sensitive issues with a high level of integrity and professionalism
Excellent organizational skills and experience applying superior attention to detail to responsibilities while meeting deadlines on several concurrent tasks
Proven track record to execute duties independently and as a member of a team
Ability to work across and with multiple groups, committees, leaders, and staff effortlessly
Self?reliant, results?oriented problem solver who regularly collaborates with key stakeholders
