Role Overview
This is a high-impact role for a creative and agile marketing professional who can lead strategy and execute with precision. The Marketing Manager is responsible for elevating SWANA’s brand and mission through compelling, data-driven campaigns that support our membership, programs, events, and overall visibility. This role blends strategic vision with hands-on implementation, owning SWANA’s marketing and communications function across platforms. The Marketing Manager collaborates across teams to ensure consistent, mission-aligned messaging and measurable impact. This is an excellent opportunity for a creative & collaborative marketing pro excited to help shape an evolving organization and take on a high-impact, hands-on role.
What You'll Do:
Marketing Strategy & Execution
Develop and implement an annual marketing and communications plan aligned with SWANA’s strategic priorities.
Manage and execute multi-channel marketing campaigns to drive engagement across membership, training, events, and advocacy efforts.
Track, analyze, and report on campaign performance to improve ROI and inform future strategy.
Manage marketing budgets, timelines, and priorities.
Content Creation & Brand Management
Write, edit, and design a wide range of marketing materials, including email campaigns, newsletters, brochures, flyers, and website content.
Maintain and evolve SWANA’s brand voice, visual identity, and messaging consistency across all platforms.
Develop messaging toolkits for internal and external stakeholders.
Digital Marketing & Web
Manage SWANA’s website content and updates, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and brand alignment.
Create, coordinate, and schedule social media content across all organizational platforms (e.g., LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube, X, Instagram), ensuring consistent voice and alignment with marketing goals.
Manage and optimize paid media campaigns, including digital advertising on social media sites and other platforms, with a focus on performance tracking and ROI.
Lead email marketing efforts using HubSpot or comparable platforms.
Media & Public Relations
Write and edit public relations materials, including press releases and industry announcements.
Partner with leadership team to develop messaging for SWANA materials, social media, programs, etc.
Serve as liaison with media contacts, partners, and vendors as needed.
Support crisis communication efforts as required.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with internal teams to promote programs, events, and initiatives.
Provide marketing support for webinars, conferences, education, and chapter engagement efforts.
Collaborate with leadership to align communication priorities with organizational goals.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, or related field.
5+ years of marketing and communications experience (nonprofit or association experience preferred).
Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills across formats and platforms.
Strong project management skills and ability to juggle competing deadlines.
Proficiency with digital marketing tools, CRM/email marketing platforms (e.g., HubSpot), and CMS platforms (e.g., WordPress).
Must have a hands-on, collaborative mindset with a can-do approach.
Graphic design or layout skills (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) are preferred.
Familiarity with environmental, sustainability, or waste management topics is a plus!
