NIGP is on the hunt for Business Development Representative. This person will be part of the team that directly supports NIGP’s membership growth initiatives and is responsible for executing successful membership recruitment campaigns. This includes member engagement strategies under the supervision of the Business Development Manager. This role’s primary responsibility is sales. From making the initial outreach to potential new members, communicating NIGP’s value-proposition, developing those relationships and converting them into paid members.
As such, this sales position has a dramatic effect on our members’ perception of NIGP and our ability to perpetuate organization growth, reputation and market penetration. This position requires outstanding customer service, selling ability, a sense of urgency, professionalism, courtesy and self-motivation skills. The ability to take “NO” over and over and not let it stop you from getting a “YES”.

Your Key Responsibilities will be:
Member Recruitment:
Works closely with the Business Development Manager to execute membership recruitment campaigns through direct outreach such as calls, emails, and other methods of communication.
Conducts research and prospects for potential new members to target.
Directs outreach efforts directly to potential members to contribute to membership revenue goals.
Serves as primary contact for membership retention campaigns:
Monthly outreach to expiring members – Calls, Emails, Invoicing
Monthly conversions of memberships that have expired
Responds to member leads
Corporate Sales and Administration:
Responsible for the administrative aspects of the Sponsor program
Invoicing
Contract Proposals
Contract Management and Administration
Your Ideal Skills and Abilities:
Sales Skills: Not afraid of being told no. Ability to consistently make cold-call outreaches with the unique ability to close business.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication are crucial for interacting with clients and team members.
Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills are needed to manage multiple tasks and projects effectively.
Analytical Skills: The ability to analyze market data and identify trends is important.
Customer Service Skills: Providing excellent customer service to clients is essential.
Microsoft Office Proficiency: Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required.
CRM Experience: Ability to learn and interact with NIGP’s Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems.
Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to:
High School Diploma or G.E. D., Associates Degree or higher preferred but will consider experience
3+ years of marketing/sales/customer service experience
Experience with CRM systems
Membership based organization experience a plus
NIGP is a 100% virtual non-profit association. We have physical offices in Reston, Virginia for employees who are local and within a commutable distance (under 100 miles) and the office is used to support operations and provide space where NIGP employees gather for meetings and events.
