About FPSA:
The Food Production Solutions Association (FPSA) is a Northern Virginia-based trade association that provides networking, marketing, training, and educational opportunities to the food processing and packaging industry. Our members include food producers, original equipment manufacturers, and service providers to the food and beverage industry.
Position Summary:
The Food Production Solutions Association is evolving. With an expanded mission and a broadened membership model, now including food production companies and soon, individual members, we are poised for transformative growth. These new categories unlock significant opportunities to deliver greater member value, attract new members, retain existing members, and build a data-driven, high-impact membership function.
FPSA is seeking an experienced Membership Director, who will lead these efforts. Reporting directly to the CEO, this individual will develop and execute a comprehensive membership strategy focused on acquisition, engagement, and retention. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who brings innovative ideas, can independently manage cross-functional projects, and excels at communicating value to diverse stakeholder groups.
Essential Job Functions:
Membership Strategy
Lead the development, execution, and evaluation of comprehensive strategies that drive membership acquisition, retention, and engagement.
Continuously assess and refine the organization’s membership value proposition through benchmarking against industry best practices and competitors.
Collaborate with the sales team to conduct market research, identifying new membership verticals, target audiences, product positioning, and strategy improvements.
Present data-driven insights to enhance strategy effectiveness, improve ROI, and identify cross-promotion opportunities.
Member Services & Support
Serve as the primary contact for all membership inquiries, renewals, and applications, ensuring a high standard of customer service.
Oversee the management and maintenance of member data, ensuring data integrity and accuracy.
Lead the expansion and optimization of FPSA’s use of Nimble and Salesforce AMS.
Evaluate membership categories, offerings, and dues structure to better align with FPSA strategic objectives and business needs.
Own and continuously enhance the new member onboarding process, including introductory calls, member portal tutorials, collection of member contact data, and FPSA member benefit overviews.
Foster strong member relationships by addressing concerns promptly and maintaining high-quality communication to strengthen member loyalty and participation.
Plan and host FPSA’s “Meet the Member” campaign, including recruiting and scheduling member participants.
Manage registration processes for FPSA’s Annual Meeting (Food Solutions Exchange & Conference) and other organizational events.
Design and execute the annual member satisfaction survey, analyzing feedback for improvement opportunities.
Member Engagement
Grow the number of member companies and individual contacts in the membership database year over year.
Conduct in-person visits to member companies to strengthen relationships with key stakeholders and executives.
Participate in FPSA Network and Council calls to better understand member needs and engagement opportunities.
Collaborate with communications and marketing team to create and disseminate targeted membership messaging and promotional content.
Serve as the staff liaison to the Board Membership Committee and participate in its meetings.
Conduct ongoing market research to inform targeting, messaging, and product development strategies.
Budget & Reporting
Partner the CEO and CFO to develop and manage the membership department budget, including financial forecasting and performance tracking.
Monitor and analyze membership campaigns using relevant analytics and reporting tools.
Create and distribute monthly membership reports, member demographics, revenue reports, and other ad hoc reports as needed.
Other Duties
Act as the main point of contact for Nimble AMS.
Act as the main point of contact for Workforge training platform license tracking.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree required.
Minimum of 7 years of experience in association membership or related functions.
Experience with membership management systems such as Nimble and/or Salesforce strongly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Strong customer service orientation with a positive, professional demeanor.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including virtual and phone-based interactions.
Proven ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrated leadership and project management experience, including cross-functional team coordination.
Proficient in digital marketing, including content creation, social media, and email campaigns.
Experience managing and monitoring marketing budgets.
Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to work independently and take initiative.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Travel Requirements:
This position requires frequent travel (approximately 30%) to engage with Members, attend trade shows, industry events, and annual conferences.
Travel may include both domestic and possibly international locations and may involve evening or weekend commitments depending on event schedules.

Location & Work Environment:
This position is based at our headquarters in McLean, VA. Our current hybrid work schedule requires in-office presence four days per week and remote work permitted on Fridays.
