ROLE OVERVIEW
Alpha Kappa Psi is seeking a proactive and people-oriented Associate Director of Marketing and Communication to lead engagement within Alpha Kappa Psi’s digital communities, inclusive of Thinkific communities and social media. You’ll focus on building meaningful relationships, fostering valuable discussions, and creating a sense of belonging for our members.
Your mission is to ensure our community spaces are active, supportive, and aligned with AKPsi’s Core Values of Brotherhood, Knowledge, Integrity, Service, and Unity.
This is an ideal role for an early-career professional who understands the power of online communities, loves bringing people together, and is excited to grow their skills in community engagement and facilitation. This is a full-time remote position based in the United States, with preference given to candidates in the Indianapolis, Indiana and Orlando, Florida areas.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Moderate and manage daily community interactions on Thinkific and social media, ensuring a positive, safe, and productive environment.
Facilitate conversations and peer discussions by posting thoughtful prompts, highlighting member contributions, and encouraging participation.
Curate and share resources (articles, guides, tools) that add value to the member experience and spark conversations in our communities.
Create engaging visual content for our digital spaces that reflect the brand and value of the organization and its products.
Host and support virtual community events, such as discussions, Q&As, or member spotlights.
Identify and nurture relationships with engaged members to build a network of community advocates.
Develop and maintain a community engagement calendar, planning activities that align with member needs and AKPsi initiatives.
Track community and social media engagement metrics, analyze trends, and share insights to inform strategy.
Manage the process for identifying and creating new communities in alignment with member needs and organizational strategy.
Collaborate with marketing and learning & development teams to amplify community initiatives and ensure cohesive messaging.
Stay current on community management and social media best practices and Thinkific platform features to continually enhance member experiences.
ABOUT YOU
Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, education, business, or a related field.
3-5 years of experience in social media, community management, customer engagement, or related roles (internships, volunteer leadership, or campus involvement are valued).
Familiarity with online community platforms (Thinkific, Discord, Mighty Networks, or similar).
Strong written and verbal communication skills with a member-first mindset.
Familiarity with Adobe design programs (Illustrator, InDesign) or Canva to create engaging visual content.
Proactive and organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
Empathy, patience, and professionalism in fostering a positive community environment.
Comfortable learning new technologies and adapting to digital platforms.
Ability to effectively work remotely, both independently and as part of a team.
Alignment with Alpha Kappa Psi’s mission and values (membership experience is a plus but not required).
Located in the greater Indianapolis or Orlando areas, preferred.
