As our Education and Certification Manager, you will be instrumental in developing and delivering world-class educational programs that advance our profession.
Your Role
As the Education and Certification Manager, you will report to our CEO and take charge of the strategic development and operational success of IALD's educational offerings and certification programs. This role is all about creating impactful learning experiences, maintaining rigorous standards, and driving professional development across our global community.
Your responsibilities will include:
Education
Developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive educational programs for lighting design professionals at all career stages.
Creating and updating curriculum content, learning objectives, and assessment materials in collaboration with industry experts.
Managing relationships with educational partners, institutions, and subject matter experts.
Coordinating and managing volunteer committees. Related to professional development and regional conferences.
Planning and executing educational events, webinars, workshops, and conference sessions.
Collaborating with the Marketing team to promote educational offerings and certification programs.
Analyzing educational program effectiveness and implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
Creating reports for the Board of Directors on program performance and strategic recommendations.
Staying current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in lighting design education.
Actively develop and peruse sales leads related to education programs and funding opportunities.
Managing finance admin tasks related to program fees, vendor payments, and budget oversight for educational initiatives.
Certification
Coordinating and managing volunteer committees related to certification.
Overseeing the Certified Lighting Designer process, including evaluations, development, administration, and maintenance of certification standards.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and passionate about education with experience in program development and certification management. Your ability to work with diverse stakeholders and manage complex educational programs will be crucial as we expand our offerings. We are looking for someone who takes pride in advancing professional development and can demonstrate:
5-7 years of experience in educational program management, certification administration, or related fields, with association or professional development experience as a plus.
Formal qualifications in education development and or delivery or demonstrated experience.
Strong background in curriculum development, instructional design, and or adult education.
Experience with certification program management.
Exceptional organizational and project management skills with ability to manage multiple programs simultaneously.
Self-starter mentality and the ability to take ownership of educational initiatives including fund raising, sponsorship solicitation and sales.
Outstanding interpersonal and relationship-building skills for working with volunteers and industry experts.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentation abilities.
Creative problem-solving abilities and innovative thinking about educational delivery methods.
An understanding of the Architecture, Engineering and Construction industry an advantage. Knowledge of architectural lighting design also an advantage.
Proficiency in learning management systems (LMS), online meeting platforms, MS Office, project management tools, and willingness to learn new educational technologies. The IALD uses ASI IMIS, ASI OpenWater, Path LMS. (Training will be provided for candidates unfamiliar with specific platforms.)
A team player's attitude ready to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
The ability to travel for educational events and conferences.
